NAR GREEN Designation
|
|
|
I just earned NAR's GREEN Designation and am a Foundation of NAR's GREEN Resource Council.
I believe this training will complement the ECO Broker educational program and recommend taking these classes as they well become available in 2009 throughout the USA.
NAR's GREEN Philosophy= Preserve, Prevent, Create, Conserve and Achieve health for the planet.
Live, love and laugh along the way....
That's terrific news MoonstoneBob! Can you give us more information? Would you like to create a drop file sharing page to let us know what you liked about the class, and what needs improvement.

I would like to know more about NAR's Green Designation. Please tell us what the cost was, and how much time it took. Where do we go to find the logo that is associated with this?
Does NAR have any statistics yet on days on market for a LEED certified home versus traditional? Any areas that are greener than others?
How about any MLS's that have gone green yet.
This is great news.

It's nice to meet you and look forward to making a real Green friendship where I hope we can learn from each other.
This new designation training was provided to about 100 trainers from all around the US here in Orlando where I am still at the NAR convention. The 12 hour, two day course is going to be offered by these new authorized educators in 2009. The required additional elective is offered online. I believe the two day course is $399.00 and the elective is $199.00. With the payment you well become a member in the GREEN REsource Council, after the first year it's annual dues well be $99.00.
The logo can be found at the NAR GREEN Resource Council web site. Of course you must earn it to use it. It's attractive green color house and the words GREEN and NRA's sustainable property designation under it. Like all educational experiences a lot depends on the skills of the instructor.
To locate an authorized trainer and/or schedule you can contact NAR's GREEN REsource Council at e-mail green designation@realtors.org and their web site is greenresourcecouncil.org, phone number 800-874-6500.
I an unable to answer your LEED question however there is a strong belief that the new paradigm and public awareness is growing rapidly. Of course "green washing" is also a problem too.
The core principle is to practice social responsibility, promote sustainability, practice resource efficiency and conservation.
I always ask: How my actions effect other other people and the environment? I have a long way to go to get where I need and/or want to be.
I will be happy to be part of your group(s) and help and/or participate in any way I can.
Your new friend, Moonstonebob
I am very interested in becoming a ECO agent Can you get us a list of dates and locations where these classes will be given please.
Here's the web site with all the details:

Bob, I was in the class of 237 Realtors in Orlando and I don't know how you received your GREEN designation, as the required followup class hasn't even been announced or offered. You are jumping the gun...an example of greenwashing?
The Ecobroker course can substitute for the followup online course, but all has to be okayed by the council and NAR and I get the impression they will be keeping a tight rein.
If you'd like more info on how the course went, feel free to contact me.
