I must admit, I am an HGTV addict. Their shows have some great tips on how to get your home sold! Staging can make a huge difference in a buyer's first impression of your home, and it doesn't have to be expensive. One of the most important things to remember is that you are selling your home, not your "stuff." So declutter your home first and foremost. If you need to put things into storage for a little while, it could really pay off by helping your home sell faster. Another first impression killer can be too many crazy colors. Even though you may love bright blue in your bedroom, green in your kitchen and red in your living room, the majority of people looking at purchasing homes want to see neutrals around which they can build their own style. So for a few bucks, you should consider buying some nice neutral paint colors and re-painting your overly bold rooms to make your home appeal to the masses. Once you do this and have a fresh pallette to work with, take a look at whether your furniture fits your space. Does it maximize the space or is it overpowering? Are you hiding a beautiful fireplace with a large sofa? Re-arranging furniture or purchasing a few pieces that fit your space better can also make a huge difference in a buyer even considering your home. Curb appeal is another huge factor. Does your roof or exterior need to be powerwashed to show like new? Are overgrown bushes and weeds hiding your gorgeous entryway? Small changes and a little tidying up can work wonders. As part of my clients' services, I offer to come in and help with Staging their homes (advice on what to change, not actually re-painting and powerwashing). If you have a home you are getting ready to sell, I would love to meet with you and go over my comprehensive marketing plan to help you get your home sold in a timely manner!
