Vail - Politicians are supposed to answer to the people.  Somewhere along the way things got turned around.  Today, politicians pretend to be responsive to the needs and ideas of their constituents, but they really don't care what you or I think.  They just want to get reelected, and will say or do anything to accomplish this goal.  And, when it comes to actually doing something that goes against their personal beliefs, even though this action may represent the desires of the vast majority of the citizens they represent, they usually fail to act accordingly.  Instead, they hold fast to their own ideas of what should be done.

This is wrong and it must stop.  The only way for this blatant corruption of our political system to end is for all of us to take action.  Each of us MUST write, call, and email our state and national representatives on a regular basis.  Next, we must do what they are unwilling to - we MUST vote them out of office every two terms, at most.  Our state and federal representatives don't want term limits.  They believe that it is their birthright to be reelected forever.  That is not what our founding fathers intended when they called for public service.  Since our representatives are looking for long term jobs, they are unwilling to change a badly broken and corrupted system.  As such, we, as citizens must do it for them.  We must vote out all incumbents on a regular basis.  These guys and gals get far too comfortable with their cushy jobs, so we must make them uncomfortable - regardless of how good they may be at their jobs.  The only way to bring some integrity back to our system - one that now has to look up to see the bottom of a sewer - is to vote them out of office.

I encourage all who read this to take action today.  Write, call, and email your state and federal representatives about something - anything - it really doesn't matter what it is.  They just need to start remembering that you are there, and that you care, and making contact will begin this process.  Then, as elections come up in the future, make it your practice to vote against incumbents who have held office for two or more terms.  We must clean up the corruption that pervades our state and federal governments.
