Wordpress offers "themes" that determine the appearance of the website. Here is the url for the free themes directory http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ There are also themes that can be purchased.
Here is an example of the Atahualpa theme http://princevillegolfvacationrental.com/. This theme is free to use and can be downloaded here http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/atahualpa
If you questions about using themes or Wordpress in general please ask.

It's funny that you mention Atahualpa because I am using this theme on my two blogs. On one the header rotates perfectly, but on the other I can't get rid of the original header pictures for my life. I've deleted them and renamed my new pictures but they never show up. I am going crazy. Any thought on this?
www.SanMateoRealEstateNews,.com -- perfect
www.WilkasGroup.com -- not perfect
Hi Lenore,
Have you deleted the original header images? Since you got the other one working I assume you followed the directions in the admin section
All header images are located in /[theme-name]/images/header. All images in that directory will be rotated. If you don't want rotating header images, leave only one image in that directory.
If you have deleted the original images and they are still showing up it means the browser is caching the images in which case you need to clear your browser cache.
I have both the same. The exception with one blog is that it is self-hosted and the other is hosted via another entity. I ftp access to the second one and have gone in several time to look and see what's missing and can't figure it out. Thought I'd throw this out to see if you had any ideas.
When you ftp to http://wilkasgroup.com/ and go into the /images/header
directory do you see the IMG_1479.jpg file. If so delete this image. Any images in this directory will be displayed on the website.
Not there, just images that I uploaded and named according to the theme directions. That's why I am so frustrated by this.
You must be in the wrong directory. This is the path for the header images
http://wilkasgroup.com/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header/header6.jpg
Paste the url into a browser and you see the picture of the rasberries.
Start by double checking that you know where the root directory is. This is the directory where wordpress was intially uploaded. If you create a file here called test.html you should be able to see it at http://wilkasgroup.com/test.html
When you are certain you are in the root directory its just a matter of going to wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header/
With the Atahualpa theme I am now having issues with the header images rotating
correctly. In other words it stays on the same image all the time. Has anyone else come across this problem.
Yes I did because I could not get access to the root directory. Once my prodvider did, things began to work. There are detailed instructions under Header Image in Theme Options. I didn't try uploading through the add media but have you tried that one?
I have this theme on my 2 blogs and the one I self-host has had zero issues and the header pictures rotate nicely. Now that the other one has been fixed, the pictures rotate nicely now as well.
Good luck!
Hi, I am having exactly the same problem as Lenore (on an externally hosted site), where despite my best efforts to FTP my desired header image to the correct folder - and it shows up perfectly on the remote FTP site - the header image on my actual website doesn't change. I see in the source code it still refers to the old header as well. But I have changed it many times before, which is so strange! I clearly no longer have FTP access to the correct folder, even though it looks like I do ... ?
It isn't quite clear to me how you sorted this out by getting root access from your provider - could you explain some more please? What do I need to ask of them?
Thanks
