I think part of the fun of the office is that we all know someone who is like one of the characters in the office. A few years ago I worked for a boss that was a lot like Michael. This guy was obnoxious, arrogant, ignorant of a lot of things but also very good at heart. In particular, I remember a stressful and unproductive week at work ending with a $150 bonus because I said something positive at lunch. My former boss also had a unecessary habit of saying something supportive and condescending at the same time. If you did something constructive for the company you were sure to be congratulated and insulted at the same time. I feel relieved that I no longer work for "Michael" but having done so I do have a greater appreciation for The Office.
