Lighting of the World's Largest Living Christmas Tree

The 79th Annual Lighting of the World’s Largest Living Christmas Tree will be held on Thursday December 4, 2008.  The event will feature holiday entertainment provided by the New Hanover High School Jazz Band from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm with the tree lighting ceremony beginning at 6:00 pm, followed by the arrival of Santa.

Have you been naughty or nice? Visit Santa and one of his elves to find out before he heads off to deliver presents all around the world! The line to visit Santa closes at 8:30 pm each night, so arrive early. Each child will receive a candy cane and a special toy from Santa. This is a free event so don't forget to bring your camera!

The Wilmington Holiday Parade will be held on Sunday December 7, 2008 and is hosted by the City of Wilmington, WECT News 6, Cumulus Broadcasting and Encore Magazine.  The parade will begin at N. Front and Walnut at 5:10 pm with live coverage beginning at 5:30 pm on Time Warner Cable Channel 939, ATMC Channel 939, Charter Cable Channel 136 and Over the Air on Channel 6.2.
