The Senate approved an extension to the first time buyer tax credit and it is almost certain to be passed by the House and signed by the president. Now we will have to wait and see what the effect on the housing market will be.

Senate due to vote for real estate tax credit extension on Wednesday and the House before the end of the week. Measure will, in all liklihood, pass.

Pending home sales continue to increase. It is still to be determined if that increase is totally dependent on the tax credit for first time buyers or if the increase is truely due to pent up demand.

Tax home buyer tax credit likely to be extended until April at a 10% lower rate. In addition, some step-up buyers may be included in the tax credit legislation.

Buying a home and qualifying for the tax credit which expires on Nov. 30? Don't even look at anything that would require financing to buy until your escrow closes. Lenders are doing last minute credit checks before funding their loans.
