RE: What About Brian Buffini?Written by: Anonymous
July 1st 2009, 9:48 pm
As a former employee of Buffini I have found this very interesting. First of all kudos to Ross Kay who simply stated the bottom line on whether or not to spend your money on Buffini coaching; as individuals we will find success according to the real effort we put into whatever we do. Not all people in real estate should be working in real estate, especially those who do not have a passion for it. As for the company itself; it was definitely an employee friendly environment with many extra benefits provided by Brian (Bri). In fact his CFO seemed to have to keep Brian from spending too much on his employees and of course with the rapid decline in business has let go of about two thirds of his almost 300 employees and discontinued the great extras to stay in business. Business by referral is not easy when your clients are mostly realtors and lenders. As for supporting your family when times are tough; this is something we all would do. It's much like a wife deciding to stay with her husband even though he has cheated on her. Buffini is known for it's nepotism and there are many businesses owned and run by families and relatives; perks are part of being related to the owner. Unfortunately there were a number of Managers who were not walking the walk and this made it difficult for those of us working there, but many of them are no longer with the company and were eventually revealed! Show me a perfect company run by perfect people; we should not look at our government in Washington as an example by the way! |

RE: Solution for Vacant HousesWritten by: Justic
July 1st 2009, 3:13 pm
*Wondering how difficult it would be to get the tenant out. Who's carrying the insurance for damages to the property? Who would want to move their furniture/pay those costs to move again, etc if the property then did sell quickly? Do they just move on to another property or rent? Seems that's pretty costly and the legalitys might be off putting, to me. As someone who fell prey to a home tending business--I can tell you not only did I not get a copy of the insurance nor did I get a name or number of the person living in my home. Once they left I was forced to face reality. My place was left in shambles. It was on the market but thanks to this scam of an outfit I'm letting it go back to the bank. All I can say is keep researching, always read a contract and make changes until both parties agree. After I signed on the dotted line I was not allowed back on my property. The house never sold and I was told by other Realtors that it was not in 'show quality' I got a lot of broken promises and now a lot of unnecessary threats. |

RE: NetBiz.com and SEOWritten by: Jamison
June 29th 2009, 5:00 pm
James- You said you worked their for a week? It's no wonder you have such a negative perception of the company. You have no idea of who Netbiz.com is and who they stand for. My guess is that you had a terrible first week and didn't have any success, so you decided that it was the company's fault for your failure. Netbiz.com is NOT ALLOWED to sell phrases that are getting little to no traffic. As with buying a $50 phrase; you get what you pay for. We wouldn't even be selling the $50 placements if they didn't work as we're a MONTH to MONTH company and we want to keep our customer's business, but we also want our customers to be successful as well. Making commission is a part of any sales job and it's important, but KEEPING the customer is even more important, and you'll only do that by being honest and giving them a good product, both things that Netbiz.com does an excellent job with. Lastly, do your research before you start spewing out incorrect falsehoods. Netbiz.com wouldn't have over 40,000 customers WORLDWIDE if it wasn't doing something right. Placement has been proven to be much more effective than optimization as it places you on the front page PERMANENTELY on a month-to-month basis. Just because you don't click on sponsered links doesn't mean that other people aren't. I'm not looking for a fight here, but don't use your unsuccessful "week" at the company as the basis for your argument. It's a straw house. |

June 29th 2009, 11:39 am
Hi Chris, I agree with you, and now more than ever Las Vegas is going to see more vacant listings sitting for longer than what we were used to. Exquisite Home Tending, Inc. has been operating in 4 States and now in Nevada. Our company is owned and run by Realtors that know the market, know how to stage the property to sell, and most of all know how to qualify the Home Tenders who are very cooperative with the agents. Home Tending I believe will be as accepted and the new "norm" as the market here in Las Vegas endures this challenge of correcting itself. Its really a win win for everyone, and yes peace of mind is priceless these days. Please call me if I can be of assistance, I would love to speak with you about this. Your input and thoughts are always valued. Sincerely, Alison Gerstein Director of Nevada, Exquisite Home Tending, Inc. alison@exquisitehometending.com |

sandy - just want to add that the other factor is how deep the seller's pockets are, and how unique they perceive the property is. sometimes when you combine these two, you may have an interesting case like this. 9a buyer appears to have deep pockets (this is likely a pied a terre). |

These uses are already against County ordinances. The Sheriff and staff should be able to stop this immediately. We made commercial uses illegal several years ago to protect the horses.

RE: Trees Near the Property Line:
Who Pays to Trim in California?Written by: Dan Tamewitz
June 28th 2009, 9:06 am
I've been having my neighbors trees falling on my property for the past month. The last on just missed my house. I'm from PA and have never asked the neighbor to pay for any clean up or remove the fallen trees. At this point I'm tired of paying for getting rid of these fallen trees. There are many taller trees that I know will come down since they are very weak and tall. They will hit my home. Is there anything I can do to have this neighbor top of these remaining trees? They fall at a moments notice and I'm afraid my family will be hit by one and possibly killed. Thank you Dan Tamewitz |

RE: Bank Owned Bidding Wars in the Santa Maria - Orcutt CA Foreclosure MarketWritten by: Gail Van Luit
June 27th 2009, 9:58 am
We are seeing this same trend in Las Vegas. Banks are listing their foreclosure inventory at below market value so they receive multiple offers quickly. In these situations, it is important to educate your buyers that it is the value of the home (through comps) that is important and they need to ignore the list price. |

RE: Speeding on Blaze DriveWritten by: Louis Salvatore
June 26th 2009, 6:53 pm
We called the city today and asked about putting in stop signs on Blaze Drive, but we were informed that this is only done for the right of ways on the cross streets. Now the city eng. said we could call the boro PD and ask them to run radar in the times we feel the people are speeding. We haven't done this as of yet, but we are seriously thinking of it. In addition, they informed us there should also be signs coming in from Blaze Drive (where the school is) that say we love our children & please watch for children. We normally wouldn't be this verbal with the speeding but we do have two small children to think about.

RE: Washington School - 1947Written by: Don Tompkins
June 26th 2009, 9:52 am
Okay, after prompting from Bev, I finally got around to looking at this shot. Sorry it took so long, Bev! Anyway, my thinking is this can't be Washington School. Gotta be Roosevelt. The year's probably right. That's me in Row 2 for sure but my records say I was in Roosevelt from 1946-49 (K-3rd), Washington for one year (1950 - 4th grade) and then Park 1951-53 (5th-7th grades). 8th was in OHS and I moved to Montrose to go to Hen Hud in 1954 summer. Row 3 right side is definitely Anne Marie Eggstein and I don't recall her ever going to Washington, right? Also same row middle, blonde girl with pigtails is Betty Ann Kuchenmeister. She was a good friend of Anne Marie. Also, last row left end......isn't that Ricky Fletcher? Great photo!! |

Quoting Louis Salvatore':
I called the city this morning to see about getting more stop signs added to Blaze Drive. I haven't heard back from them as of yet. Yes, we just moved in however as discussed before on this blog it's mainly people cutting throught the development not our fellow neighbors. The City's Residential speed limit is 30mph, we feel thats way to fast for a neighborohood with children. I was thinking speed bumps , but then again , it would take longer for the "Fast and the Furious" cars to get out of the neighborhood,( Boom Boom Boom ) |

Two Well Written Editiorials that appeared in today's Monroe Enquirer-Journal. One of them explains why I've never "seen" this Mascot. It exists in name only...... There is no physical person or even emblem used like a confederate soldier for some time. The other editorial stated that we'd be better off we'd focus on the issues affecting these children's education right now, rather than the past. RE: Trees Near the Property Line:
Who Pays to Trim in California?Written by: Mary Krivanek
June 24th 2009, 12:03 pm
I live in Redding CA. My neighbor had and still has several natural live oak trees growing over my property by 10 to 15 feet. 95 % of two of these trees were over the property line causing damage to the roof of my garage. 4 feet from the ground the trees grew over the proprety line at a 45 degree angle to the ground reaching for the sun as it set in the West. After trimming the trees back to the property line all that was left was 4 foot stump. The neighbor had very limited access to these trees from his property and this was why I chose to do the trimming. He has sewed me in civil court for damages to the trees. Do you feel he really has grounds for the suit? |

i agree with you, although different alternatives are coming from different directions - if everyone can just group their heads together, since everyone just wants the same goal, then it will be perfect! Although, of course, you cannot deny that fact that buyers and sellers work for their own benefits - but seeing the bigger picture will actually makes matters easier for both parties as time comes |

This is just so silly, but actually happened at my own university....Sonoma State! When I was going to school there, we were the SSU Cossacks. Apparently Cossacks were unruly Ukrainian militaristic types. However, since I am Ukrainian....I have love for these unruly types! Anyway, since leaving college I've learned that SSU has since replaced our Cossack mascot with the "Seawolf". I guess some overly worried idealists believed this was a bad image for the school and not really "PC" in this day and age. Apparently cheering on a non-existent wolf that swims in the sea is more appropriate. Go figure! |

In that the Civil War (rather, the War of Northern Aggression) is closer in date to our present time, we seem to refer to "rebels" in a problematic sense, or in a negative light. However, in 1776 England referred to our entire country as rebellious, as in “they are a bed of contentious rebels”. In a world full of monarchs, dictators, genocide, child labor, and yes, present-day slavery, I’m kind of proud to be labeled a “rebel”. |

RE: What About Brian Buffini?Written by: Manoj Philip
June 23rd 2009, 12:21 pm
At the end of the day, nothing new is under the sun. Real estate trainers will all say edited versions of what has been said before. Buffini has an interesting referral system but you have to work it consistently and without-fail. Depending on your sphere of influence, you can have immediate success or you can be stuck with crappy, unqualified leads that go nowhere. You have two choices: try to handle all the factors to real estate success on your own or put your trust in the Lord. I choose the latter. Why try to handle everything on your own when you can't? There are just too many factors to consider, too many choices, too many issues. Seek God's Kingdom first and live a life of holiness and God will give you the desires of your heart. A Realtor blessed by God will out-perform the competition in the long-term. God's success is so much better than anything we can attain on our own.

Thank you David for your opinion. Such a valid point about putting the quality of our education above the importance of a mascot. But this "potential" lawsuit will cost the taxpayers $$. In fact, I would argue it already has, with the cost of this meeting. I would have much rather that money went towards textbooks or a teacher's salary. I really wanted to make sure I wasn't off track. I want our community to be unified. ALL of our community. A word only has the importance you give it... A symbol for that matter too. You can make it negative; you can make it positive. I choose to recognize our history and be "positive" about where we have come from, and where we are going. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." I agree with this and while we can't ignore it, nor should we re-write it. However another one of my favorite quotes is, "If you are always looking back, you can't see where you are going." We know where we've been people. It was an awful place. Now let''s move on together. And help our kids learn too..... :-) |

RE: Parkwood High's Rebel Mascot Called into Question...Written by: David Patterson
June 23rd 2009, 9:17 am
As an African-American male and fairly well-known Realtor and Radio personality in Columbia SC, I find myself in the middle of these sensitive discussions. Therefore, my comments are not meant to offend. They are made in an effort to educate others on the mindset of ONE AFRICAN-AMERICAN CAROLINIAN. "...but I feel like it still doesn't represent everyone..." -- Bianca Faulkner Though taking her quote out of context, Bianca makes a good point. In a perfect world, a mascot should be an object of affection for EVERYONE at a school. As an Alum of Queens University in Charlotte. King Rex was like family to me. I would love for everyone to share that experience in a mascot. "We've got to learn to live together and get past the pass and stop putting salt in wounds … or it'll never be a great country,” -- Gerald Freeman. (This was the direct quote from WCNC.com) Gerald gets no argument from me on learning to live together. Here's the problem. There are organizations (PLURAL) that love to excavate the bones of times past. Are we still healing from the founding principles and laws of this country? YES Is that problem as bad as 40 years ago.... NO. In my opinion, when the Ole Miss Rebels come to Columbia in the fall, I won't feel offended by the mascot. I want the Gamecocks to win because of the locale not the mascot. WHEN I DRIVE BY THE STATE HOUSE to see the game and watch that flag fly over my head..... that "put salt in wounds". Our government should be our leaders! If the leaders embrace or condone these symbols through compromise, how should I as an African-American male feel about my leadership? In fairness.............. Do these residual symbols govern or impact my life. NO! Why? I've embraced DIVERSITY not ADVERSITY! Maybe... ALL OF US.... should embrace diversity IN ALL WE DO! With all that said...... IF WE DON'T IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN THESE SCHOOLS.... The mascot won't matter. We'll all be ignorant in the eyes of the world! Let's put FIRST THINGS FIRST! Thanks for reading with an open mind! |

"How usual is it for a Condo Board to assess up to 2.9% in new assessments out of the blue for each condo in the building? Offering 30 Days to pay? 73 Worth Street in Tribeca recently assessed all apartments in the building from $48,000 to $78,000. The payment was deemed by the board to be due in 30 days from notice." According to a

Speeding in our development
So I spoke to Murfreesboro PD and they will put Blaze Drive on the Board for the police to run radar during morning and evening rush hour times. That doesn't mean it's going to happen because, I'm sure we aren't the only street in the boro that is having speeding issues!
