Habitat ReStores, according to Habitat for Humanity’s website, “are retail outlets where quality used and surplus building materials are sold at a fraction of normal prices. Proceeds from ReStores help local affiliates fund the construction of Habitat houses within the community”.
The materials that are sold at the ReStores are generally donated by local building supply businesses, and individuals such as contractors, sub-contractors, demolition crews, and homeowners who are remodeling their homes. The ReStores not only benefit the Habitat organization by helping fund the construction of Habitat homes, but they offer drastic savings of building supplies to the community at large. Plus, these stores help the environment by recycling usable materials into constructive use.
If you are undergoing a remodel project and are wondering what to do with your old cabinets, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances, etc., please consider donating them to the Habitat ReStore. They can sell them to someone who can use them, which helps them fund the construction of Habitat homes in our community, and you get a tax write-off. It is a win-win for all concerned.
For more information about Habitat for Humanity or to donate to the ReStore, call 674-7669. For really great deals on building materials, be sure to visit their new store soon
RE: Habitat for Humanity Re-StorePosted by Tracy at 5:23 PM, Dec. 11, 2008I am so excited to see your blog. I love the restore I have been able to update my house and saved a ton of money while doing it. I volunteer there and it is so fun to see all the great donations that come through. I have bought tile for my bathroom along with the floor molding and I will also be buying the toliet :) I have also updated all of the lighting in my house - I bought all new lighting with a silver finish most were still in the original box, the best part was I donated the old light fixtures back to the store. I have also bought paint for my laundry room and some new light switches. I just love the restore and wanted to add my coment :) Thanks

RE: Habitat for Humanity Re-StorePosted by Annette Basso at 5:56 PM, Dec. 11, 2008Thank you for your great comment. The ReStore in St George is really great, and is a win-win for all. The donor feels good about donating to such a good cause, and receives a tax write off to boot, the customer gets to purchase great "stuff" for pennies on the dollar of the actual value, and the Habitat organization raises money to help a family get into a home. It doesn't get much better than this! Please pass the word among your family and friends about the store, especially for donations! { Permanent Link }
