RealtyBites -- The Blog
Alan Heavens
Philadelphia, PA
Is it true? Are they really rounding up members of The Great Real Estate Press Conspiracy? Did someone catch Alan Heavens saying something nice about the Google monster? Or worse, did he utter kind words about the Zillow demon?
No. He was offering advice on his home improvement blog, Maximize Your Investment and posed for some fun and clever illustration in a blog that is quick reading and content rich.
Alan Heavens is the Real Estate and Home Improvement Writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer/MCT News Service and Chairman of the National Assn. of Real Estate Editors. He is the author of What No One Ever Tells You About Renovating Your Home: Real-Life Advice for Hassle-Free, Cost-Effective Remodeling and an incurable blogaholic with at least three real estate blogs:
1. RealtyBites -- The Blog takes a serious look at the market with a financial focus.
2. Maximize Your Investment is a remodeling blog that corresponds to curriculum in a course that Al Heavens teaches at Temple University.
3. On the House -- The Blog features video footage taken with a video camera bought at Rite-Aid for less than $100. Al Heavens is a very clever and very thrifty triblogular guy!
Launching three new blogs in a year is quite an accomplishment. We are waiting to see what happens in 2007. Will Alan Heavens have six blogs before the end of the year? Will he wear sexblogular stripes in the real estate press room at the National Assn. of REALTORS convention in Las Vegas? RealTown will be there and we will let you know!

- Mar 19, 2007 10:33:44 AMI follow Al Heavens' articles in the Philadelphia Inquirer and I think that he has a keen understanding of the real estate market in Pensylvania as well as a good grasp nationally. At times he has disagreed with some REALTORS' take on market forecasting and he offers well grounded thoughts and observations about the market and the way the industry works.
Many of us have different ideas about ways that the industry can improve and grow. Discussion of those ideas leads to action that leads to growth.
I do not believe that there is anything "anti-REALTOR" about Al Heaven's contributions as a real estate reporter. To the contrary, I think that his thoughts and illumination add valuable content to the real estate knowledge base.
