Aug. 30, 2006 - Boot Camp
I just got home from 3 intensive days of training that was held by Tom Hopkins of Champions Unlimited. It was held in Scottsdale Arizonza. Tom calls his training "boot camp" which is something I heard of back in 1985 when I first saw Tom Hopklins Live. Anyone is sales or customer service of any sort would do themselves well to attend this training. Be sure to put "The Valley of the Sun" on your calendar for next August. As Tina Turner would say, "Simply the best."

Aug. 15, 2006 - Explanation of a Blog
What is a Blog?
Blog is short for Web log, a type of website with content that is updated on a regular basis, usually with several entries on one page. A blog is different from a website in that it may contain information posted by various contributors in addition to the blog host. Most blogs contain numerous categories and links to other subjects or other blogs. Visitors can post their own information or comment on the entries of others.
About 10 million Americans now write blogs, ranging from the confessional and edgy to the technical and mundane. Users can do basic searches entering keywords or they can do advanced searches in which they specify certain parameters, such as searching within a specific blog or blogs written in a particular language or blogs authored by a specific person.
These personal Internet journals have taken the Internet by storm. The first blog is said to have been created in 1992, but blogs didn't really start to take off until fairly recently (Probably when someone got the bright idea to call web journaling "blogging"). Thanks to easy-to-use programs and websites, the most technically challenged person can create a blog.
When you comment on a blog, the comment remains attached to the blog, usually for public viewing. An e-mail alert is usually sent to the blog author to notify him/her that there is a comment from a reader. This is a feature that makes a blog interactive. Authors can respond via additional notes or comments on the blog and/or via e-mail.
Today, it seems like everyone is jumping on the blogging bandwagon. Blogs written by politicians, musicians, novelists, sports figures, newscasters and other notable figures can be found in the "Blogosphere." Numerous real estate blogs have been created over the past few years and some have flourished. |
