I did extensive research on the Tablet PC's before I purchased one and I decided to go with the new Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet. I looked at the Red Tablet, the IBM ThinkPad, the Gateway Tablets and even the Tecra Satellite prior to making this big decision.
I went with this Tablet in lieu of the Red Tablet due to the fact that this one can also be used as a laptop. The Red Tablet can only be used with an additional keyboard. The Tecra M4 also has a DVD/CD writer in it for added flexibility. I can burn CD's or DVD's on the spot for my clients with pictures of the homes we have seen, and listing information for them to View when they get home.
The Tecra M4 also has a faster processor and the ability to add more memory than the Red Tablet. I can type up contract using the laptop part of it, then convert it to the Tablet and let my clients initial and sign the document, then quickly convert it back to the laptop and e-mail, fax or print it out.
It has been very convenient and easy to use and understand. It's possibilities are endless. I am glad I went this route. Yes, the Red Tablet is lighter, but the functionality being built in and ready to go has been priceless.

Gateway versus Toshiba - Apr. 25, 2006 |

I was in the market to buy the Toshiba until I saw the new Gateway
Convertible. I've only had it a week or so, but it is great. All the power
I need as a laptop, but also the ease of a tablet. This tablet bit is new to
me, but the more I use it the more I like it. If you get a chance, take a
look at the Gateway web site for a look at their new product and If you can
find one give it a test drive. Best Buy is where I found mine.

Compatibility Issues - Apr. 26, 2006 |

For those of you searching for a tablet pc, I had a Toshiba Techra that I
loved when I worked at Microsoft. One word of caution is to confirm there
aren't any driver incompatibilities with your local MLS software. They have been on the market long enough now, the driver kinks with other should be worked out.
Here is a link to Toshiba's site:
