Tablet PC -- What's Not To Like? - Aug. 3, 2006

I  just finished reading some information on the Tablet PC, I think it's a great tool for Real Estate.  I have 2 questions:  Who has one and uses it on a daily basis?  How did it change your life for the best for your business and personal life?  I want some feedback before I go out and purchase one.

Half the Brokers in my office use one!  What's not to like?  I can research MLS with my data/air card, type up contracts, sign them, and get them where they need to go, now*...Bottom line: more productive time, less driving to the office time.

I do. For my business it allows me to have access to my office, sign and mail contracts & paperwork, etc, wherever I go and thus saves me many miles on the road and wasted time from back and forth to the office.  Has paid for itself many times over.  As to personal life....it hasn't changed that a bit.  IC has a blog for tablet pc's I believe.  My vote goes to the Motion Computing through Red Tablet.  Good luck.

Also adding a portable printer is a huge time saver. I have an HP printer (power not working now, getting a replacement printer on the extended warranty plan I bought from OfficeDepot). I had countless times when I needed to print something immediately and deliver to a client or other agent when we both were in the area and going to someone's office or home was a major pain.

I am also thinking about adding a scanner in my car - they are so cheap now. I could not figure out a set up where I can have a fax machine use my cell phone connection, so the scanner will be as good as it gets and I can keep things in digital format on my PC after e-mailing it or in the scanner folder.

If I can find a portable printer that is also a scanner that would be great >:o)

Iggy - check Canon - I remember a few years back they had one where you changed the cartridge and it became a scanner? Don't quite understand how it would work though.

I carry a Visioneer Strobe XP100 with me - a single page scanner that is about 10" long by 2" x 2" and is powered off the USB port. I've had it for years and it has never let me down.
