I have the Motion 1600 and have no complaints but I don't think you can get in for quite $1500. My old tablet was a Toshiba M200 or 205 either one. It was great and I have just found two for agents in the office. If you can still find these they are a great tablet at a low cost and they have a 12 inch screen. My opinion is the 14 in screen are just too big and heavy to be passing around for clients to sign on. My M205 never had a problem in 3 years.

I have owned the M1400 Tablet PC from Motion Computing for several years. It was the second generation device they produced. It has been a workhorse.
One of the key factors is looking at a mobile device is how many moving parts does it have (swivel screens are generally a bad idea) as well as how "sturdy" it is built to withstand shock, abuse and general daily rough treatment. I have put my tablet through the ringer and it still works great. The last feature is WiFi capability. If you intend it to be your mobile computer, it should have the ability to connect wirelessly to the internet.
Motion Computing now has a couple of new models (same footprint 8.5 x 11 screen) and a 1/2 size footprint which is an ideal solution for the mobile professional.
I would recommend you do a price comparison against the competitive units made by Gateway, HP, Toshiba (for example) check out www.cnet.com for reviews. Motion devices are feature rich and for my money, a great investment. Motion should have a competitive comparison on their website product page as well.

I have a new toy too! I am writing this on my new Motion Tablet PC. This is such an awesome machine. I don't even have to walk around taking notes in a house because it has voice recognition as well and I can set the recorder to wide angle to record the owner as they are telling me all the "goodies" in the house. With the touch of a button I can go from landscape mode to portrait mode. I can fill out contracts and have the buyer/seller sign it right on the screen and email them a copy as well as the co-op agent.
I've only been really using it for 2 days now and the learning curve is much lower than I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to taking it with me to the MLS Data Topics in the Tropics next week and the REMAX convention at the end of Feb. Mostly, I'm looking forward to writing lots of good clean contracts and being able to change them on the spot without scribbles, etc. No wasted paper. AND -It only weighs 3 pounds!
