Well Amber, I just recently purchased a HP Compaq tc4400.
Specs:
Microsoft Windows XP
Tablet PC Edition 2005
HP
Genuine Intel(R) CPU
T2500 @ 2.00GHz
1.32 GHz, 504 MB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
I purchased directly from HP online @ their Small Business sector. The NAR has coupled with HP and offer a significant discount to members of NAR. It is really worth a look see. You will need to give your NRDS number to qualify for the discount.

I have just started to use the Gateway convertable tablet. I like it
because it has the cd built in. It is a bit heavy, but good. More of my friends prefer the "Red Tablet" with no keyboard and no cd so very light. Both can do everything you need.

I have spent 3 yrs with a Toshiba M205 and never had a problem. Recently I have switched to a Motion 1600 and it has been trouble free the first two months. If you can find a new Toshiba m205 it would be a great tablet to get started with as it is a convertible and it is as easy to use as any laptop. The Motion is more of a slate tablet and has less of a conventional keyboard. I have purchased a Bluetooth mouse to use with the keyboard and don't mind it at all.

| Aloha All,
I'm interested in people's opinions of the "slate" versus "converttible" option. I am leaning towards a convertible as this will be main main computer. I want something light, powerful and versatile.
Also, does anyone have any insight into how Windows Vista will impact a purchase? It is my understanding that Vista will not have a specialized OS for the Tablet like it currently does...
Thank you,
Billy |
