As your front yard or back yard blossoms into full glory, be sure to take some pictures and then – this is key – remember where you put them. 
You never know when you’re going to put your house on the market. You might end up with a job transfer in the middle of an August drought when the yard is brown and ugly or January when there is a pile of snow.
Anyway, the point is, if you have those pictures of your yard and house at their best, it can go a long way towards overcoming a drab reality. And it might mean more money in your pocket at settlement time.
If you’re really stuck for taking pictures (okay, if you're in my area), send me an email. I’d be happy to come take a few photos and then either email them to you or give them to you on a CD. Big plus – digital photos don’t take up shelf space!

I've often thought the same thing... that if I owned a house "up north" and put it on the market during the winter when it's not likely to look it's best, I'd want to market it with photos of what the house looks like during the spring/summer/fall... blue skies, green grass, etc. The only thing is... wouldn't buyers probably think that the house has been on the market longer than it actually has? I realize the agent can see the days on market, but first impressions for buyers who just started to look on sites like Realtor.com might make them think that and possibly make them think there must be something wrong with the house. If it were me, I'd add text to the photo that says something like "summer view" and perhaps still include the best photo you can take of it during the winter.

Leanne, I would definitely use a current-season photo as the main photograph. But using off-season photographs -- either on the web or (as I sometimes see) in a photo album sitting on the dining room table.
