"See the Job, Do the Job, Stay Out of the Misery"

May. 24, 2009

As Realtors, we deal with people during one of the most stressful times of their life. For myriad of reasons clients often get upset, frustrated and overwhelmed during a real estate transaction. When panic, regret, frustration or fear emerge for our clients, these heightened emotions can create "bumpy" times for all parties involved. Our job is to keep the transaction running as smoothly as possible. To do the job, we need to be compassionate, centered and composed. When emotions fly, staying grounded and clear-thinking can be difficult.

"See the job, do the job, stay out of the misery."

This simple quote from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (who introduced the world to Transcendental Meditation (TM) some fifty years ago) has become a mantra for me during stressful times transacting real estate.  When emotions are running high, repeating this mantra has been a saving grace, providing calm and clarity for the job at hand.

"See the job, do the job, stay out of the misery."

"See the job, do the job, stay out of the misery."

These are wonderful words Ricklie, thanks! I am going to make this my new motto; Lord knows I can use them. If we all went by this, work would be so much simpler and easier to do. I am starting right now.

Thanks, Ricklie! What a great mantra and one I can use right now. This has been an exceptionally tying time for me and has made me question all that I do. Too much stuff has me overwhelmed. This mantra helps give focus.

Thanks for this great reminder, Rickie.  An practicing Maharishi's  Transcendental Meditation 2 times a day is really the best way to stay out of misery.  It is such a great tool at relieving stress and giving energy to handle all the pressures of the day.  I am so thankful for this very simple and effective technique.

Maharishi had a lot of wisdom. This is one of his great sayings, and one the we can all use at some time. If someone is in deep trouble and we get down in the pit with them, what good does it do? If I am having a “pity party” for myself, that certainly isn’t going to help matters. Thank you for reminding me of this knowledge, and sharing it with those who might not be familiar with Maharishi’s insight in people and life.

WOW! How appropriate for this time in our lives! ESPECIALLY if you're doing a "short sale"! But I can see using this mantra when dealing with teenage girls too! Thanks
