new listing + sales data OH NOES / (over) optimism stopped by Dreaded Data Discontinuity

I need to ask some questions at The New Firm, but as of now it appears that Corcoran's "loft" category is much smaller than OLR's (as I got only 4 new listings and less than 600 lofts in inventory) and that I cannot (easily? at all??) count loft sales for

hard data are hard to find ... here's some on 30 days of actual loft sales

Ever since I began counting new listings and closed sales for Manhattan "lofts" last October I have been aware of -- and irritated by -- the definitional problems in doing such a 'simple' thing.

My first useful report about the number of Manhattan lofts offered for sale establishes a base line of 745, with more than one-third from $1 to $2 million and about 70% under $3 million.
