Sep. 14, 2007 - Congratulations

Congratulations to Autumn and John who settled on their first home today.  We started working together a few months ago.  After learning more about their needs and wants we took a look at several homes for sale.  When they saw "the one" Autumn and John were smitten.  The price was a bit high, but thanks to my sharp negotiating skills they got the home for a very fair price.

- Bike Night

The 2007 Annual Lansdale Bike Night was held this past Saturday evening.  Main Street was packed with hundreds of motorcycles and thousands of people from Broad Street all the way to Valley Forge Road.  All kinds of bikes (and come trikes) could be seen.  There were vintage motorcycles, choppers, Harleys, Imports, Racing, and Show Bikes.  They lined the sidewalk all the way up Main St and there was food and vendors to keep the crowds busy.  There were even a few rock and roll bands strategically positioned on trailers every 4 or 5 blocks.  It was a real party atmosphere.

Zoom in on the map to view the route my fiance and myself took.

Parking was hard to find, but we did eventually find a good spot.  We parked right on the corner
of Columbia and Susquehanna and walked down to Main.  We then walked east to Broad St and turned back to see the rest of the show.  After going past the train station we walked back in Madison Parking Lot and found the right side along the train tacks lined with food and other vendors.  To the left near the future Performing Arts Center was the Judge's Table complete with what looked to be 50+ shiny trophies.  After zigzagging through the parking lot we made our way back to Main St via Wood St and continued to see the show.  Amy and I stopped briefly at the Main Freeze for a quick snack before turning back to finish up the evening.

The Bike Show has come a long way since the first time it has come to town and it seems to be growing every year.  See you next year!

Sep. 5, 2007 - Your Home: September 2007

The latest issue of Your Home is now avaliable. Click to view the entire article.

Here is a featured article:

Cold-Weather Prep
The signs of fall are all around: golden-hued leaves, crisp temperatures and shorter days. As you prepare for the months ahead - storing summer clothes, checking heating systems and making sure your home is well insulated - don't forget the landscape around your home.
If you've been mowing all spring and summer, it's not time to quit just yet. Continue until the grass stops growing. (The weather in your area will determine when this happens.) And speaking of mowing, don't forget to take care of your trusty lawnmower. Drain it in late fall, because gas left in the machine all winter will get gummy and may make startup difficult when spring rolls around.
As the temperatures drop, so will leaves from the trees around your home. It's important to rake lawns regularly so the grass can "breathe." How long can you wait before breaking out the rake? Most gardening experts say you shouldn't go longer than three or four days. However, if the layer of leaves is particularly thick or has been weighed down by rain, the sooner you rake, the better.
Last but not least, remember your garden hose. Drain it before storing it for the winter and then turn off your outside water supply to prevent pipes from freezing or bursting.
