• Feb. 21, 2006 - Beware of Scams

I've been receiving some telemarketing calls and one I must let all know. This morning I received a call from 206-415-8614. This call is a recording (just to waste your time) and should not be answered. Answering will only tell the machine your phone number is valid and call it again later.

Another scam is known as the "Joe Anderson" email. This email incorporates personalization and is written in a way to make you think a human had actually typed the sentences and requested a response. Unfortunately, if you reply, it is only validating your email address and you will get more spam. Ever heard about the Nigerian email scams that are "obvious" scams (Send me money so I'll be able to send you money type of scam) when you read them? This one's better. Beware.

If you know of any other scams, spams, or phoney schemes, let us know!
