• Oct. 29, 2008 - First Snow in the Adirondacks for the 2008-2009 Season
A snowstorm has entered the region and dumped a few inches of snow in areas around Lake Placid and Tupper Lake while towns along the Lake Champlain Valley hardly received a dusting. Below is a photo taken today at noon in Essex:

Judy B's has opened at 7529 Court St. Park Motor Inn. Specialities are new and used books, cds, puzzles, jewelry, pottery, vintage, contemporary, bric n' brac, this n' that, etc. Stop by and chat. Hours are Thursdays 12-8pm, Fridays 12-5pm, and Saturdays 1-5pm. |

• Oct. 16, 2008 - New Thrift Shop in Elizabethtown
St. Elizabeth’s Catholic, Episcopal, United Church of Christ (Stone Church) in Elizabethtown, and the Congregational Church (on the Hill) in Lewis are opening a Thrift Shop on November 1, 2008.
Clothing, kitchenware, jewelry, baby items, books, videos, music, furniture, tools, crafts, toys, housewares, seasonal decorations, antiques, nick nacks, thing a-ma-jigs
New treasures arriving every day
Tues. . . .11am - 5pm
Thurs. . . 11am - 7pm
Sat. . . . . 10am - 2pm
Upstairs of the Deer’s Head Inn on Court Street, Elizabethtown

Anyone wishing to contribute or volunteer, please contact:
St. Elizabeth’s Catholic, Episcopal, United Church of Christ (Stone Church) in Elizabethtown, or the Congregational Church (on the Hill) in Lewis.
Items are to be dropped off at one of the churches when someone is there. Please do not bring items directly to the Thrift Shop.

Everyone knows that New York's tax system needs major overhaul. Every now and then you may see a Reform Now sign in someone's yard. This year is a presidential election year and, as such, each candidate is talking tax reform. I've found a website that will allow you to see what you may pay in taxes after the 2008 election.
