• Feb. 21, 2006 - Beware of Scams

I've been receiving some telemarketing calls and one I must let all know. This morning I received a call from 206-415-8614. This call is a recording (just to waste your time) and should not be answered. Answering will only tell the machine your phone number is valid and call it again later.

Another scam is known as the "Joe Anderson" email. This email incorporates personalization and is written in a way to make you think a human had actually typed the sentences and requested a response. Unfortunately, if you reply, it is only validating your email address and you will get more spam. Ever heard about the Nigerian email scams that are "obvious" scams (Send me money so I'll be able to send you money type of scam) when you read them? This one's better. Beware.

If you know of any other scams, spams, or phoney schemes, let us know!

• Feb. 19, 2006 - Turtle Island Cafe

My wife and I have enjoyed lunch and dinner at the Turtle Island Cafe. The New Year's Eve dinner and New Year's Day brunch were excellent. Where did we go for Valentine's Day? Turtle Island Cafe, of course!! This year's Valentine's Day was our 15th wedding anniversary and David gave us a gift by preparing our favorite appetizer. Lobster Crepes! Delicious. Nothing but the best. Thanks David!

• Feb. 17, 2006 - Weird Weather

The weather has been acting weird for the past few months. We have next to no snow and warm temperatures. Every once in awhile we'll get a cold spell but the warm climate comes back. While we're enjoying the warm temperatures, we'll keep thinking about the folks in Wisconsin.

• Feb. 14, 2006 - Champ and Port Henry on Good Morning America

The Good Morning America crew filmed in Port Henry on Feb 9th for a segment on Champ. They filmed Lohr McKinstry speaking in front of the newly refurbished Champ sighting sign, filmed the Champ mascot in Sagans Dpt. store, the Champ float, down at the Port Henry pier, and planned to later interview people who had seen Champ. They also filmed a bit in Vermont. But most of the segment will focus on Port Henry. Watch Good Morning America Feb 15th (7am to 9am.)
