Relocation Adventures and MISadventures |
I have just settled into new digs in Tucson, AZ, after spending the last 22 years in eastern PA. The adventures and misadventures of a couple of Pennsylvania empty nesters is a long, hard tale ... this was NOT a textbook relocation!!! There is a RealTown article in the works, but for now, here are some highlights:
Our initial plan was to travel leisurely over a three-week period, taking in the sights along the way. We abandoned those plans and we found ourselves in Dallas after two days on the road!!
The man on the right is my husband of 31 years, his arm draped around my brother in law, Tony Licata. Together they are sharing thanks for the gift of life! Thor narrowly escaped death just days earlier ... when I traveled to a Real Estate Educators conference in St. Louis we decided that he would assume the task of packing ... he decided that my packing experience would be much easier if he lightened the load ... and then he gathered ALL of my garments and deposited them in goodwill clothing receptacles around Bethlehem and Allentown, PA ... Imagine my surprise when I returned home and found out that I did not have to sort through suits and blazers, slacks and skirts, winter outerwear, year-round undergarments, blouses, shirts, shorts, capris, T-shirts, and sweatshirts!!!! How easy my packing experience became!!!
I confess that I uttered unseemly words at a very high decibel level until my throat became too sore to say another word. The good Sisters at Annunciation School (Paramus, NJ) would not have approved 8-(
After a couple of days in Dallas we stopped in Austin and visited with Bernice Ross and Byron Van Arsdale (shown at left with Thor the Terrible Packer).
And then we blasted into Tucson ... scarcely a week on the road ...
There's a good story in the works ... stay tuned!!!

Yes, I heard those screams all the way out here in San Diego. Poor Thor. Glad you made it to Tucson safely, with marriage intact ;-)
