Relocation Adventures and MISadventures
Moving from Bethlehem to Tucson ... Whew!!!

Tagged with: relocation

I have just settled into new digs in Tucson, AZ, after spending the last 22 years in eastern PA. The adventures and misadventures of a couple of Pennsylvania empty nesters is a long, hard tale ... this was NOT a textbook relocation!!! There is a RealTown article in the works, but for now, here are some highlights:

This is my handsome nephew, Joe Licata, recent Aggie grad and future lawyer. Our initial plan was to travel leisurely over a three-week period, taking in the sights along the way. We abandoned those plans and we found ourselves in Dallas after two days on the road!!

The man on the right is my husband of 31 years, his arm draped around my brother in law, Tony Licata. Together they are sharing thanks for the gift of life! Thor narrowly escaped death just days earlier ... when I traveled to a Real Estate Educators conference in St. Louis we decided that he would assume the task of packing ... he decided that my packing experience would be much easier if he lightened the load ... and then he gathered ALL of my garments and deposited them in goodwill clothing receptacles around Bethlehem and Allentown, PA ... Imagine my surprise when I returned home and found out that I did not have to sort through suits and blazers, slacks and skirts, winter outerwear, year-round undergarments, blouses, shirts, shorts, capris, T-shirts, and sweatshirts!!!! How easy my packing experience became!!!

I confess that I uttered unseemly words at a very high decibel level until my throat became too sore to say another word. The good Sisters at Annunciation School (Paramus, NJ) would not have approved 8-(

After a couple of days in Dallas we stopped in Austin and visited with Bernice Ross and Byron Van Arsdale (shown at left with Thor the Terrible Packer).

And then we blasted into Tucson ... scarcely a week on the road ...

There's a good story in the works ... stay tuned!!!

Yes, I heard those screams all the way out here in San Diego. Poor Thor. Glad you made it to Tucson safely, with marriage intact ;-)

Thor is lucky that ALL you did was use your vocal chords!!  He might have become a ghost in other households :-)  Seriously, glad you arrived safely in Tuscon and are settling in. Can't wait to see you in SF for Bloggers Connect!!

So you finally gave up the snow for the mild heat in AZ?  What were you thinking?? lol, your timing should have been to move in the fall girlfriend!

Glad Thor is still alive as having to travel while naked is an offense in most states that I know of, then again, so is murder or battery upon a clueless man ;-)

Who is going to SF ??  I will be there with Mollie and Merv speaking on a panel about consulting.  We need to get together and have a big party like we did in Orlando at  NAR - oh and btw - Saul - don't forget to bring your credit card again ;-)

Let's start a SF post with a list of names and figure out where to meet up.  Fran and I were thinking the Tuesday reception would be a good starting point for making more exotic plans later.

The Blogger Connect confab in San Francisco will be a welcome change in climate ... it sure does get WARM here in Tucson! It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow bloggers face to face ... and Inman conducts a GREAT conference!! I look forward to seeing John, Mary, Paula, and everyone else there!!! I'll probably be wearing the same clothes I wore in St. Louis unless I get a chance to go shopping between now and then 8-(

Fran, Bring lots of sweaters and clothes for COOL weather. It really can be quite foggy and cold in SF, especially in summer.

Cool, Frances. Glad you made it safely. Yeah, it's been a bit warm, but you will love it in January (that, from a former Bostonian).
