Happy Veterans Day! |
I just posted a terrific article at RealTown.com from the National Assn. of REALTORS and their wonderful new outreach to homeless U.S. veterans. The story brings a few tears to my eyes today. First, of course, is gladness ... hope that some of these vets will receive much earned respect and dignity. My Dad is a veteran.
He was a young 16-year-old Marine who saw a difficult tour in the South Pacific ... he has shared many, many, many tears at thoughts of those time. He was a very handsome Marine. I wish that I had a digital image of my Dad in his crisp, ironed Leatherneck uniform. He is still a handsome guy. He has a comfortable home and he can still remember the words to the Marine Corps hymn. It was the first song I learned as a child.
As a young adult I worked with my Dad on Printing Magazine. I am spending the week in Las Vegas to cover the NAR Convention and Expo for RealTown.com. The first time I came to this town was in 1972 to cover a convention for the American Society of Newspaper Editors for Printing Magazine. My Dad was the Editor-in-Chief and he was showing me the ropes. Happy Veterans Day, Daddy!!! I love you!!
