Apr. 1, 2008 - Search Engine Optimization - Hip Hop Style
Today I came across this video from the Poetic Prophet (AKA The SEO Rapper) and yes it is entertaining. But it is also spot on! All the points he makes are totally valid. I just finished a list of Do's and Don'ts for Real Estate Professionals for a client. And this video, well, it hits all the main bullets points of how to create a search engine friendly site for better organic results and it sure looks like it was probably alot more fun to make. Plus I learned something about tables and how they affect indexing...the mention in the rap piqued my interest enough that I did a little research into what effect tables can have. (Now I understand that tables can affect the content order of appearance and that what we see when we visit a site is not necessarily the order that spiders do.) So, yes, it's true, I am going in to work tomorrow to check on some design elements on a client's new website that may have been made with tables because I don't want them to become an issue for indexing later on! Give this rap a listen and see if you don't agree that it's a great training device...just call it the hip hop version of Schoolhouse Rock for SEO!
