Is now a good time for REALTORS®? |
Hello to all of the experienced experts. I am as new as they come so do let me know where I'm going wrong. Thanks in advance.
I've recently passed my state test, got my license, and now have joined my local BoR. What kind of surprised me when I went to their office to join was that I was the 7th salesperson to join on that day. And it was a Saturday! From all that I had heard, Realtors and salespeople were jumping ship in this crazy downward market that has happened due to the national financial bailouts and realty defaults.
While I do understand that the current real estate market is one that is so very different from 4-5 years ago when houses sold themselves, it would seem to me that the best time to get into a line of work is when everyone else is getting out. I kinda think the lesser amount of competition is a good thing (for me.)
People still have to sell when they need to move to another location. People can sell low if they are also going to buy low (to find that other house that will better meet their needs.)
While it may be a sad moment to have to sell grandma's house who is no longer around to turn on the lights, it sure is a good time to be buying if a couple has planned for the down payment and their job situation is good.
It just seems to me that real estate transactions still need to happen and I'll be glad to be the one to handle them when others have left the party.
