Welcome to another sunny day on Pine Island.  I have been keeping my eye on the weather up north and have come to a very scientific conclusion; that’s way too cold for me.  I enjoy being out on the boat fishing in shorts and a T-shirt in the dead of winter.  I also enjoy cruising out to neighboring cayo costa for a quiet day on beach with my children.  

This upcoming weekend I plan to hop in the boat and take advantage of the incredibly low tides we have been having as of late.  If you are looking for a great activity to do with kids (without works just as well) then hop into a small boat and head out till you see sandy spot in the water.  Sandbars can provide hours of fun for kids of all ages.  Follow a hermit crab as he traverses the shallows, stumble upon a horseshoe crab as it moseys about or just check out a starfish or sand dollar. 

Whatever it is that you choose to do, keep in mind that you would not be doing it dressed in a parka surrounded by 3 feet of snow.  If that doesn’t motivate you to come down to Pine Island I don’t know what will.  See you on the sand…
