Feb. 6, 2006 - Welcome |
Welcome!!! It's so exciting to be here on the web. I'm hoping to make it easy for all of you to find out what classes I'm teaching, when and where. Rather than looking in the individual schedules you can now come here and click on the school you are interested in and view a listing of all my classes or you may go directly to a particular school by simply clicking on its link. You can even sign up for classes there if your chosen school is set up to do that. Or if they are not set up on the web, I'll provide their email and phone number so you don't have to look it up. I hope this will make it all very easy, fun and convenient.
I will also use this site to post new recipes each month for you to try at home. These will be appropriate to the time of year and any holidays that month. You will find the recipes in a couple of places, both in the entries section and under the recipes category.
I also plan to write about any restaurants I visit that you might enjoy or from time to time I might talk about my philosopy on food. I plan to make is newsy and fun and when I get the hang of it I'll even include pictures of the food I'm making in classes or dishes I'm working on for future cookbooks or articles.
Also, please feel free to contact me by email with your questions or comments and I'll be happy to get back to you as quickly as possible. |

| Hi Phillis,
Since you are no longer teaching at Sur la Table in Newport Beach, can you give me the name and location of a place you teach at closest to this area. I live in Newport on the Balboa Peninsula. We miss you over here! Sincerely, Sue
I think you may have mentioned "Cook's Corner"??? but where, Mission Viejo? |

Dec. 12, 2007 - new cooking school |
| Posted by KAY TORTORICE |
I have long enjoyed taking cooking classes from you at Newport Sur La Table. However their present hands-on policy is not productive nor particularly pleasant to those of us who already know a fair amount about cooking and are looking for the kind of fine tuning tips you show in your classes. There is a new cooking school/kitchen supply store in Long Beach, where I live. The owner Ryan, is looking for teachers. You can reach him at Kitchen Outfitters, 562 434 2728 or rynmcintyre@yahoo.com. The store website is kitchenoutfitters.net It would be wonderful to have you conducting classes right here in Long Beach.
Happy Holidays and I hope to see you in Long Beach

Dec. 9, 2008 - using threatenedfish species |
| Posted by suja |
In some of your classes you utilize halibut, seabass and other 'over fished' populations. Please consider educating your classes about threatened fish species by reviewing the GreenPeace fisheries site at www.greenpeace.org/seafood Species under intense fishing pressure are : Albacore tuna, Atlantic cod (scrod), Atlantic halibut, Atlantic salmon, Atlantic sea scallop, Bigeye tuna, Bluefin tuna, Chilean sea bass, Greenland halibut, Grouper, Hoki (used in fish sticks), Monkfish, Ocean quahog, Orange roughy, Pollock, Redfish, Red snapper, Sharks, Skates and rays, Swordfish, Tropical shrimp, Yellowfin tuna. Responsible educators, like you, can change our grocery shopping habits and preserve species.
