Entry Deadline Nears for NAREE Journalism Competition;
$10,000 in Prizes to Nation's Best Realty/Housing Journalists

 
Entries must be postmarked by Wednesday Feb. 20 for the National Association of Real Estate Editors' expanded 58th Annual Journalism Awards Competition.
 
More than 70 awards in 35 categories -- including seven for online journalists and an overall award for freelancers -- are earmarked for winners. Cash awards of more than $10,000 include a $2,000 prize for the best overall individual entry. Entry forms are available at www.NAREE.org.
 
New categories will appeal to journalists from weekly business newspapers, mortgage publications, trade publications and online news outlets that specialize in spot news, commercial and financial real estate news. Special awards will recognize freelancers and young journalists.

The faculty of E. W. Scripps School of Journalism of Ohio University will judge the competition. Journalists from the nation's leading newspapers, Internet media, magazines and broadcast outlets enter this prestigious real estate journalism competition, which has recognized excellence in writing, reporting, and editing since 1949.

First- and second-place awards will be given in categories including: best residential article in a daily newspaper, best article in a weekly business newspaper, best online spot news report, best
home design feature, best commercial real estate magazine, best broadcast report, best blog, best commercial real estate report, best trade magazine report, best real estate section in daily newspapers, best mortgage article, best real estate news web site, best newsletter and more.

Winners will be invited to attend NAREE's Awards Luncheon Friday, May 9, 2008, and will receive complimentary admission to NAREE's Annual Journalism Conference in Dallas, Texas from May 7-10.
