Mar. 25, 2009 - In Aroostook County, 2 Registries Of Deeds Due To The Siz.e

Aroostook County Has Two Registry Of Deeds, Houlton And Fort Kent    Aroostook County is the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island. So two registries to cover the county are needed as the two are a couple hours away from each other.

You can do a lot on line and deeds after 1985 are on a data base of records. $100 a year to use one, $200 for the pair. See about the on line options for the Aroostook Registry of Deeds. The southern Aroostook Registry is in Houlton, the northern one in Fort Kent.

With a local registry, real estate brokers can have a closing, the paperwork can be recorded and he gets his commission check right then, not in a few days while the deed gets mailed down country to be put on record. Houlton Maine is the county seat for all of Aroostook, the crown of Maine.
