     Aroostook County is the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island. So two registries to cover the county are needed as the two are a couple hours away from each other.

     You can do a lot on line and deeds after 1985 are on a data base of records. $100 a year to use one, $200 for the pair. See about the on line options for the Aroostook Registry of Deeds. The southern Aroostook Registry is in Houlton, the northern one in Fort Kent.

     With a local registry, real estate brokers can have a closing, the paperwork can be recorded and he gets his commission check right then, not in a few days while the deed gets mailed down country to be put on record. Houlton Maine is the county seat for all of Aroostook, the crown of Maine.
