New Market News

I heard some really cool financing stuff today... there's a local bank who will give an $8,000 loan at 0% interest to first time home buyers.  Also if you are in school they will look at loan income and take that towards your income for a home loan.  Could be very interesting.

They also had really good things to say about the market and how well things were going.  They said overall as a market we were up in sales.  I haven't seen Junes numbers yet but will report more when I see them.

If you have more questions give me a call or send me an email.

Market Report

So everyone wants to know how the market is doing...I was a little surprised to compare how my business is doing compared to the rest of the market.  Comparing last year to this year the Iowa City area is a little down.  Last year in May we sold 266 to this year's 217.  My personal business is up.   Also when I'm setting up showing usually half the home will already have offers on them.  Homes are moving, as far as days on market we are seeing (for May) an average of 89 days in Iowa City and 113 days.  Our average days on market is holding steady from last year.

Those of us who live in Iowa City already should be very thankful, as we are not having as much trouble as the rest of the country.  I liked reading in the Press Citizen that for the month of May we had the lowest unemployment in the country at 3.2%.

It's absolutely a great time to buy.  Interest rates are still very low, the government is giving $8,000 to anyone who hasn't owned a home in the past 3 years, plus there's plenty to choose from.

Anyway that's all I've got on my mind for now...

Start Investing

I have completed my second spec home.  One book that supported me along the way was "Rich Dad, Poor Dad".  It was defiantly worth the read.
