It’s that time of year for reflection, and I am indulging...
It’s hard to believe that my granddaughter was 2 years old in August. She’s bright and beautiful and boy oh boy, she talks up a storm. It’s sometimes unimaginable that my children have grown up so quickly. I swear, I just turned around, and 30 years went by. Time, it slips right through your fingers.

My husband Kevin and I have 3 children. Our oldest son Dylan is 34. He is married to Cindy. They have Cienna, who is two years young. They live in Wilmington, North Carolina where they are both teachers. Dylan teaches at University of North Carolina in Wilmington and Cindy teaches at Cape Fear Community College. Dylan and Cindy recently moved back to the east coast after spending 11 years in southern California pursuing their higher education.
Our son Christopher is 26 years old. He travels a good bit for his career. He calls Baltimore home these days, but he was raised here in Ocean City, Maryland, as were the other kids. Chris graduated from Towson University in 2004 and uses his business degree to own and operate a commercial construction business. Last summer was spent in Phoenix, Arizona. In the last couple years he has worked in Atlanta, Georgia, different areas in the state of New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, Indiana and North Carolina. Oh, and last winter he took a dream vacation. He spent two months in Australia. He sky dived, bungee jumped, white water rafted, snorkeled and dived. He had the time of his life. Our youngest is our daughter Kara. She is 18 going on 40 (so she thinks), and she is a sophomore in college at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. My goodness, of the three, she has been, and continues to be the pistol. Parents of daughters always seem to have their hands full. She’s beautiful, outgoing and very opinionated, and God knows she keeps me up at night. She is, however, a tremendous student, and a wonderful person.
I know that I am truly blessed. They are all happy and healthy. It’s only occasionally that I need to remember this little prayer – God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
