• Nov. 27, 2006 - Thanksgiving Recovery and Year-end plans
I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving Holiday and you are recovered from the turkey and stuffing. The weather was very nice and there were some good football games this past weekend. As we head into the Christmas/Holiday season, please take some time and enjoy the gifts/blessing that we all have (family/friends/workmates). Also, please take a moment and say a prayer for our deployed servicemen and servicewomen.
Strive to make your plans and goals for next year so you can hit the ground running on January 1st. Remember, people generally do NOT plan to FAIL - they just FAIL to PLAN. Also, it is OK to make adjustments in your plan as the year goes by. Changes in your situation happen and having the ability and flexibility to adjust to change is the key to your own success and happiness.
If you need any assistance in planning/executing your Real Estate goals, don't hesitate to give me a call. |

• Nov. 13, 2006 - NAR Convention and Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans
I have spent the last few days in New Orleans attending the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) annual convention. It was a chance to receive additional training and housing market commentary about the current market and trends for the future. Additionally, it was a chance to meet many of the nearly 30,000 REALTORS® who were expected to attend. I have been to New Orleans before and this was a great opportunity to give something back to a city that needs our help. I had the privilege today to work with REALTORS® from various parts of the US and Canada on a Habitat for Humanity home. There are many areas that people are volunteering their time to help. Our area was called Musician's Village and our group worked on 2 homes and poured concrete footings for a 3rd. I worked with a group that put siding on a new home that will be completed in the next few weeks. You will see some photos of the work home and of some area damaged homes. In the area we were working, all new homes must be a minimum of 3-4 feet above the ground. PS. The Habitat Staff and Americorps student/volunteers were fantastic. I hope you enjoy the photos.

I hope you enjoyed viewing these photos. I am sure that the agencies in New Orleans would appreciate any assistance
you could give them!

• Nov. 12, 2006 - Halloween Party
Coldwell Banker Reilly and Sons celebrated Halloween with their annual Halloween Parade/Contest/Pumpkin Give-a-way on Saturday, October 28th. Everyone had a great time. Reilly and Son's newest office (the Basehor Office) hosted their First Annual Halloween Party/Carnival on Tuesday, October 31st from 5-7pm. Local businesses (including Sonic and First American Title) provided gifts and support which allowed all the children to have a wonderful time (even though it was cold!). Some selected photos from the Basehor party are below.

• Nov. 12, 2006 - Buying up in a down market
The market has slowed/stabilized in some areas and we are entering what is considered more of a "normal" market. Interest rates still are very favorable and often this could be a good time to purchase a more expensive home. For instance; if your home was valued at $200,000 and you were looking at a $300,000 home, there would be a difference of $100,000. If home prices fell approximately 5%, your current home would be valued at $190,000 and the new home would be valued at $285,000. This difference is now only $95,000. |

• Nov. 12, 2006 - Things to Consider-Agency
| Agency is a very important topic that one needs to discuss with their real estate professional. Ensuring proper disclosure and knowing who is being represented by whom is the FIRST STEP to a successful real estate transaction. The 3 ways I can represent a client are as a Designated Buyer's Agent, a Designated Seller's Agent or as an Transaction Broker. My preference is to remain a Designated Agent (Buyer or Seller) so I can continue to work in the best interest in my client. Please contact me for more information. |
