THE ILLINOIS ACADEMY OF REAL ESTATE

Established in 1979, the Illinois Academy of Real Estate is one of the oldest schools of real estate in Illinois.

Mission

To promote the professional development of our students, clients and friends by providing accurate and relevant information regarding real estate education, licensing and careers and to serve the real estate industry with diligence and integrity.

School and Class Approval
Academy courses are approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation - Division of Real Estate.

Course Offerings
We are approved for classroom correspondence and on line courses in salesperson and broker licensing and professional continuing education for salespersons and brokers.

The Illinois Academy of Real Estate Inc., is licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the directors and officers are members of national, state and local associations of real estate licensees and educators.

A 75 hour classroom series for persons with an Illinois sales license or persons having completed the 45 hour salesperson requirements begins September 9, 2008.

Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at 318 N. Lake Street, Aurora, Illinois.  Five week session with review.

Contracts and Conveyances - IDFPR #113.0000105  15 hour mandatory

Course. Includes: deeds, fixtures, contracts, real estate closings, foreclosure, redemption, land use control, landlord/tenant relationships, cooperatives and condominiums.

 

Advanced Principles 2000 - IDFPR #113.0000049  15 hour mandatory

Course. Includes: agency relationships and responsibilities, disclosure, environmental issues and Illinois real estate license law.

 

Brokerage Administration - IDFPR #113.0000051  15 hour mandatory

Course. Includes: Illinois real estate license law and licensure, listings, title search, forms for closing, contract forms and the broker-salesperson relationship.

 

Real Estate Appraisal - IDFPR #113.0000107  15 hour elective

Course. Includes:  the appraisal process, real property and value, economic trends, depreciation and land value.

 

Real Estate Finance - IDFPR #113.0000105  15 hour elective

Course. Includes: types of financing, sources of financing, mortgages, mortgage documents, closing a mortgage, interest, liens, foreclosure, real property insurance, mortgage risk, principles of property value for mortgage credit, mortgage analysis and construction loans.

Mike Fair, Director

Mike has developed and instructed real estate courses since 1984 and has helped thousands of students pass their real estate exams.  Currently he writes and teaches courses for the Illinois Academy of Real Estate.  He is also the director of the Academy and a real estate education consultant.  

Mike has been involved in some form of the real estate business since 1974 and his experience includes: new home construction, real estate sales, property management, real estate office management, real estate financing, and real estate education. 

His credentials include public speaking and management consulting.  He has served as content advisor for Modern Real Estate Practice in Illinois, 3rd ed., Environmental Issues,3rd ed., Ethics in Today’s Real Estate World; all published by Dearborn Financial Publishing and the Compu-Cram Exam Prep, published by Hondros College.  

He is a member of the National Association of Realtors®, the Illinois Association of Realtors®, the Real Estate Educator’s Association, and the Illinois Association of Real Estate Educators.

Mike is happily married to his wife Laurie and they have 5 adult children and five grandchildren.  He enjoys reading, volunteering at his church and activities with his family.
