Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit - June 2008

Jun. 1, 2008
Categorized in: Best Wishes!

It is good luck to say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" the first thing each month.  Discover Columbus tries to say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit." before saying anything else each month.

I never knew the Mason Dixon line was in between PA and MD and that it was a survey issue.  Or if I did know I have forgotten.

I  found "
Southern Fried Rabbit(Bugs Bunny video ) doing a little research about "sweet tea" - e sources mentioned the Mason Dixon line.... being a line for Sweet Tea consumption as well.... we are north of the Mason Dixon line... all of Ohio is.   Discover Columbus Tea poll

Bugs Bunny could be crossing the line from Ohio into West VA or KY but then he would have to have been crossing the Ohio river...

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit - May 2008

Hares Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit....

ooops I usually have this pre-written long before the first of the month. I was awake and said? or thought "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" and assumed it was here.

I saved a bunny about a week ago.  A cute little baby bunny.  Caesar the great hunter (house cat who will NOT stay in the house) was chasing one.  I love Caesar but I hate him killing bunnies and birds. Mice, moles and voles I am not as concerned with other than having to get rid of the little carcasses.

There is something about the way he kills bunnies that is macabre.

"Run bunny run!"

It is good luck to say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" the first thing each month.

The photo is the statue at Ballantrae, a neighborhood in Dublin (Hilliard school district.) The bike in the photo shows the scale of the hare statues.

Hoppy May Day.

Happy May.

Happy Easter eCard from Real Living
This is a Real Living eCard.  There are no tulips in  Central Ohio  yet this year because Easter is soooooo early this year.

Happy Easter ...  At least our snow Saturday did not stick.  I went to an Easter Service that started outside the church last night with a bonfire. It was cold and windy.  When we were driving home from the Easter Vigil we got on the subject of how the date for Easter is figured.

I know I have looked it up other years, but I could not remember why the wild fluctuations in the calendar year to year.

During the outside part of the service last night I kept thinking about people in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota... those states got snow the end of this past week... lots of snow.  We are lucky our big snowfall from two weeks ago is all gone.

It's math, science, history and religion, both Judaism and Christianity that determines what day Easter falls on each year... and yes this year is very, very early.

Thanks to Ann Arbor Michigan real estate blogger Karen Moorehead for the scoop..  Why is Easter early this year?

Karen wrote ( I think it is a quote...)

“This is the earliest Easter in nearly a century – the last time Easter fell this early was in 1913... The holiday (or holy day) won’t fall again on March 23 – which is the second-earliest day possible – until 2160.

Interestingly the latest it will be in our lifetimes is  in 2038. That year, Easter is on the latest day possible: April 25.”

Ann Arbor has a fresh 8.5 inches of snow on the ground...

I'd love to hear from you if you have a comment on the topic of Easter or weather.  All comments are moderated so you will not see your comment immediately. Thanks. Copyright 2008 Discover Columbus and Maureen McCabe

March Hare stuffing the dormouses head in a teapot

Happy March 1st.  Did you say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit " first thing in the month for luck?

Last year in March... a rabbit rerun? My Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit post explained the John Tenniel drawings from Allice in Wonderland and what a March Hare is... and who the March Hare and the Mad Hatter are stuffing in a teapot... March 2007 was a long Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit post.

Happy March 2008!

Happy March Madness!

Happy St. Patricks Day! - It's a bit of a mess this year since St. Patrick's Day falls during the week before Easter.   Discover Columbus - St. Patrick's Day 2008
