The Best Gourmet Burgers in Columbus

Nov. 26, 2006
Categorized in: Polls and quizes

The contenders... Although I have eaten at a bunch of thesese I have only had a burger at Gahanna Grill, Thurman Cafe, Max & Erma's and Red Robin, so I vote for Max & Ermas.

 "Barley’s Brewing Co.

 Brazenhead Irish Pub

 Cap City Fine Diner

 The Clarmont

 Digger & Finch

 Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus

 Gahanna Grill

 Marshall’s Restaurant & Bar

 Max & Erma’s

 Red Robin

 Ringside Café

 Ted’s Montana Grill

 Thurman Cafe

None of the above. Enter your own choice below."

"NIGHT LIFE Crowd could be craving burgers, Brooks" is also from the Columbus Dipatch but these are not gourmet burgers.

"The third version of the Arena District nightclub booked by PromoWest Productions — which also schedules concerts in the Basement, the Newport Music Hall and the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion — will marry a well-known fast-food chain, White Castle, and music."

Columbus Best Turkey Dinner

From the Weekender in the Columbus Dispatch who has the Best Turkey Dinner in Central Ohio?

According to the survey of readers:

Bob Evans!

According to the Columbus Dispatch:

"For many people, nothing says "home cooking" quite like a turkey dinner. That's why the traditional home-style meal at Bob Evans Restaurants was the top pick among readers voting for the best turkey dinner in central Ohio."

The choices in the online Dispatch survey were:

"Ashley’s Restaurant (Holiday Inn on the Lane)

 Bob Evans Restaurants

 Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe

 Concourse Hotel & Conference Center

 Handke’s Cuisine

 J. Gilbert’s

 Lindey's Restaurant & Bar

 Lindey's Cafe at Polaris

 McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant

 Marriott Columbus Northwest

 94th Aero Squadron

Olde Summit Towne Restaurant & Gift Shop, Pataskala

 Salvi's Bistro

 Shaw's Restaurant & Inn, Lancaster "

 Or

"None of the above. Enter your own choice below. "

Of course more people have had the turkey diner at Bob Evans than any other Central Ohio restaurarant.  I've only had a "turkey dinner" at Bob Evans, 94th Aero Squadron and Lindey's at Polaris... I would have voted for either over Bob Evans.

Best Turkey dinner in town today?  Thanksgiving leftovers.

Survery says:

Columbus Business First Survey

Q. "August is typically vacation time for many Central Ohio families and, subsequently, can be a slow time for short-staffed companies. What's it like at your work place this month?"

Business as usual?

Busier than normal?

Slow?

Prudent Pruning

Jan. 22, 2006

I have had landscaping questions come up on two properties I sold, recently.  One during the transaction, the other months later when the utility company got aggressive with the trees at the back of the lot.

There has been  concern about trees in utility easements after the Christmas 2004 power outages in Worthington, Clintonville and other northside Columbus neighborhoods.

A recent REALTOR Magazine Column written by an attorney recommended:

  • Know the boundaries. Find the property boundary line on a surveyor's map. One of these maps should have been made or provided to the owner at the last closing. Dig out the document and study it before starting. Look for the metal posts or rebar at the corners that correspond to the map.
  • Stop at the line. Prune trees, shrubs, hedges, and plants that are encroaching from the neighbor's yard, but stop at the boundary line. If your clients go past the line, theyre trespassing. Use proper pruning methods or contact a professional service.

I was surprised to find in tracking down a survey for buyers after a closing that the survey does not always show the utility easement.
