Trash in the streets of Columbus II

Do the trash bins sit in the street on trash day in your Columbus neighborhood?  Or up on the driveway or curb?

Trash in the streets of Columbus

Columbus Ohio has a color coded trash pick up schedule with big green trash bins that are on the curb in most neighborhoods on trash pick up day.  A big truck comes by and a robotic arm picks up the trash.

I visited a friend one day to drop something off.  It was trash day in the NAVY area of Columbus... her home is in the NAVY area...  I forget sometimes she lives in the City of Columbus because she is in Delaware County, her house is in the Olentangy School District and she has a Lewis Center mailing address.  I know she lives in Columbus on trash day, because of the garbage cans in their neighborhood.

Trash in her 'hood sits on the edge of her driveway NOT in the street.

I can't tell you what day of the week it was. Just that it was trash day in the NAVY area.... she has a neighbor we don't like... (doesn't that sound childish?)  I can't tell you the neighbors name... or really why we don't like her.  It's a real estate thing... it is old and long forgotten... My friend walked me out to my car and warned me not to back into the trash can on the end of their driveway...  that was sweet of her...  or maybe she was thinking of her trash receptacle... either way I was careful to not hit her trash as I backed out...

Her neighbor we don't like (sorry to sound so childish) was backing out of her driveway at the same time.  She backed right into her own trash can... pitch of her driveway, height of her bumper... the big green trash can wedged under the wheels of her vehicle...

tee hee

Presidents Day - Columbus Holiday

Feb. 16, 2008
Categorized in: About

In case you were wondering....  Presidents Day is a Columbus trash holiday...  Presidents Day is the first holiday on the trash schedule since Martin Luther King Jr.  Day in January.   Next up is Memorial Day.... at the end of May.

There is no trash pick up in the City of Columbus on Monday, Presidents Day...

NAVY area (my neck of the woods) trash pick up moves from Thursday  to Friday for the next few months.

The City of Columbus site says:

"To find your collection color, call the 3-1-1 Call Center at 645-3111 (TTY 645-6507)

There are no collections on holidays observed by the City of Columbus. Your collection day changes after each observed holiday.

If you have questions regarding your collection day, please call your collection color hotline, 645-[COLOR]. Example: 645-NAVY (6289).

NOTE:  Your collection day is not affected by Good Friday or Veteran's Day holidays."
