I am the mayor of Columbus Ohio 43085

Feb. 25, 2008
Categorized in: Community
Marketing guru Seth Godin told I could be....

A Pasadena CA Realtor Irina Netchaev Twittered about Squid Zipper:

Seth Godin announces free svc www.mayorofyourzipcode.com. free website to build info on your town. from web

(Twitter is microblogging 140 characters...)

OK I want to be the mayor of Columbus Ohio 43085! (it is not exclusive... we may find 500 local Realtors all want to be the mayor of Columbus 43085....)

The communities in the 43085 ZIP code? Worthington, Columbus and Sharon Township...  Is any of Perry Township in 43085?   I know it used to be... before the 43085 ZIP code was split off to the 43235 ZIP code.

Harvey Minton is the mayor of Worthington Ohio.
Mary Jo is the mayor of the Village of Riverlea.  Nice lady I've met her a couple of times.
Sharon Township does not have a mayor....
The part of Columbus is in the 43085 ZIP code is of  course governed (do mayors govern?) by Michael Coleman just like 43235, 43229, 43214, 43202...and the rest of the ZIP codes in Columbus or the parts of those ZIP codes that are in the city of Columbus.

Just by putting up a page on Squidoo for Columbus Ohio 43085, I was assured that I would become the mayor.  No campaign promises required.

I am the mayor of Columbus Ohio 43085 <---  my Squidoo Lens

What's on the page?  Weather.  Blue Jackets, my favorite place for lunch (not in 43085 but close...It's a Mexican restaurant... surprised?) Not much really now that I think about it. I added some links to cities, townships, schools.

There are some stats... and graphs.  A pretty pie chart.  I love pie charts....  I am not sure how much stats by ZIP code really mean in some cases but they are all the rage right now!

On Seth Godin (marketing guru)'s blog he wrote last week real estate agents should either get out of the business or get a page on Squidoo... become the mayor of their town... er ZIP code.   Thanks to Tina of GreenBuckeye for forwarding me the post...  hmm was Tina recommending I throw in the towel?  Or get a Squidoo lens?  I will have to dedicate my Columbus OH 43085 lens to Tina of Green Buckeye!  I had published  the page already actually.... based on the promise of mayorhood.

Do you Squidoo?   What is Squidoo?  A platform where you can be an expert.  Are you an expert on the history of Old Worthington? You can o a Squidoo lens and share your expertise on Old Worthington with the world on Squidoo.  Are you an expert on the flaura and fauna of Central Ohio?  Share it on Squidoo.  Expert on Ohio politics?  Share your expertise on Squidoo on your own lens about Ohio politics. Expert on penguins? I saw a great page (lens) the other day on Squidoo about polar bears...

Of course rather than send you to the Squidoo page (where I am the mayor of Columbus 43085 ) which has oodles of ads for other real estate agents I could just share the information with you here... on Discover Columbus.  I'm here.  You're here.  There's no advertising for my competitors here... Thanks for stopping by.

I'd love to hear from you if you have a comment on the topic of Squidoo.  Do you Squidoo?  All comments are moderated so you will not see your comment immediately. Thanks. Copyright 2008 Discover Columbus and Maureen McCabe
