Worthington's Queen of the Mardi Gras

Feb. 20, 2007
Categorized in: Best Wishes!

Mask and beads

No, the City of Worthington does not have a Mardi Gras celebration or a Queen.  The Worthington HER Real Living office takes Mardi Gras serious.

Yes this is the end of my reign....I was crowned Queen Maureen at the 2006 Worthington HER Real Living Mardi Gras party.   Tonight at the 7th Annual Mardi Gras Party I will reliquish my crown.

It's been a year.

Hopefully 2007 will be a better year with all my queenly duties over.

What can I say?

Columbus cartoonist

Saturday morning cartoons...a serial to read while eating your cereal.  Have you seen  Columbus cartoonist, blogger Eric Smith's blog with a six part series about a recent trip to Louisianna?  Reading about 'muching on mudbugs' may not be the most appetizing..............

There is a new Cajun BBQ on 161.

There is a Praline Queen downtown Columbus....At City Center!  Below came in a DownTown 43215 eNewsletter

"Confection perfection, thy name is New Orleans Pralines.

Decked out in green, purple and gold, the cheerful shop opened July 15 inside City Center's Rich Street entrance selling all manner of traditional Southern desserts—cute little single-serving sweet potato and pecan pies, pound cake, and shaved ice treats known in the Big Easy as snowballs (most popular flavor: "wedding cake").

And, of course, the stars of the show: pralines, the famous Southern pecan candy that gives new meaning to the phrase "melts in your mouth."

Owner Chandra Noble, a Columbus native who lived in New Orleans for 20 years before returning to her hometown in 1998, has been perfecting her praline recipe since she was a teenager. Though her mother is privy to the simple-sounding recipe, Noble is the only person who can make it do magic.................."

I am the reigning Mardi Gras queen for HER Worthington...

I have never been to NOLA.

Lundi Gras

Feb. 27, 2006
Categorized in: Best Wishes!

Today is Lundi Gras   Tomorrow is Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday.

Does 'Gras' means fat in French?

Central Ohio's  Best Mardi Gras party is at the HER Real Living's Worthington office.

Between having an agent who was born and raised in Louisiana and a manager who loves New Orleans a Mardi Gras Party is a given at HER Real Living Worthington.  Hurricane Punch, beads, masks, great music and lots of good food.....

By Invitation only this exclusive party will feature past royalty.  A new King and Queen will be crowned. We call the male ruler  King rather than "Rex"

This is Columbus Ohio not NOLA.

Reigning in 2005 were Herb Schupp and Patsy Schmidt.   Previous royalty includes Betsy Bronder (Betsy Fry when she ruled), Babs Hill, Tom Holcombe, Bettsy Jack, Eric Eckert, Deb Horstman, Paul Bean and George Van Lent.  Our first King Bruce Printz is the spouse of staff member Deb Printz.

Happy Lundi Gras!  Happy Mardi Gras too... I think I am going to be too busy to blog tomorrow.........
