Ice Cream Trivia from the Trivia Bot on Twitter:

I like trivia.... I am very good at Trivial Pursuit. I have a category here for Columbus Trivia.  Know any?  Share it.... I also have a category about cows here but the Trivia Bot's cows are just cows in general not Columbus cows necessarily.  I am sure though that Central Ohio cows do their part for ice cream...

John Henderson of the Denver Post wrote of
Columbus ice cream amongst his worldly travels:

"The only place in the United States I've managed to find tastes that accurate is, of course, that tropical paradise and ice cream capital of the world: Columbus, Ohio. OK, our image of Columbus is of freezing air billowing out of some crazed Ohio State linebacker during the Michigan game on a 30-degree day in November."

Henderson was talking about Jeni's Ice Cream.  Columbusite Jeni is one of the sixteen women entrepreneuers featured in the book 'Real You Incorporated' by Kaira Sturdivant-Rouda.

Also heard via Twitter this week:

little girl eating Ice creamIce Cream Sunday.... I feel ice cream cravings coming on.  They now know... or at least the leaders of restaurant chains know...  In an interview and culinary tour around Columbus,  Cameron Mitchell tells Lisa Bertagnoli of  'Chain Leader'  about what we do for fun ....

EAT!

“There’s not a whole lot to do here, so eating out has become a big source of entertainment,” Mitchell explains."

Another theme in the article in the May Issue of Chain Leader is how vanilla Columbus is... yet they get dessert at Jeni's  where the flavors are anything but vanilla...

Chain Leader is a Reed Business Information publication for owners of chain restaurants... as the May 2007 article say lots of chains are headquartered in Columbus.

ice cream "Columbus, Ohio, is ice cream heaven"

I found that on a blog CMH Gourmand.

 From a DenverPost.com article by a sportswriter

"food & dining | a moveable feast
Columbus, Ohio, is ice cream heaven
By John Henderson "

In the DenverPost.com article  Henderson also wrote:  "Columbus is one of America's most underrated cities."

Speaking of Rome Italy and his love of gellato he wrote:

"The only place in the United States I've managed to find tastes that accurate is, of course, that tropical paradise and ice cream capital of the world: Columbus, Ohio. OK, our image of Columbus is of freezing air billowing out of some crazed Ohio State linebacker during the Michigan game on a 30-degree day in November.

But this is home to the most unusual ice cream parlor I've ever visited in the U.S. In the quaint Grandview Heights neighborhood of Columbus sits Jeni's. In this simple, unassuming shop with the red chairs out front is where I found true, distinct ice cream flavor. "
