Grandview Yard - Columbus Suburbs

Dec. 20, 2007
Categorized in: Community

Grandview Heights is a Columbus suburb northwest of downtown for anyone who is reading this long distance... ie. those relocating buyers that we all live for in real estate...  Grandview is one of Columbus earliest suburbs.

Wednesday an exciting new mixed use development projet in Grandview Heights  was announced by Nationwide Realty Investors.

Two Columbus Dispatch articles about a proposed development in Grandview Heights a suburb of Columbus bring news of the Grandview Yard development. Both Columbus Dispatch articles are written by Martin Rozenman

'Grandview Yard' development to replace former Big Bear site,

'Plan would transform old Big Bear property'

Proximity to OSU, OSU Hospitals, Battelle and the developing tech corridor along 315 make this 100 acre site inviting for a dense mixed use development proposed by Nationwide Realty Investors.  Nationwide Realty Investors did the Arena District development in Columbus.  One of the Dispatch articles says Grandview Yard will be similar without a sports theme. There will be 600 to 800 residential units in the development.  There will be no "big box" stores, but there will be a mix of shopping, restauarants and residential...  No ground breaking until 2009 with the first phase completed in 2010.

Grandview Heights Video... The title is Grandview and more... The "and more" in the title is Clintonville a Columbus neighborhood.  Clintonville and Grandview Heights homes are very similar in housing stock.

Grandview Heights is a very walkable the 2007 pre Grandview Yard... (I believe this video may have been made in 2006.) Walkability... one woman in the Real Living HER video about Grandview talks about she has a three year old car with 3000 miles on it.

Columbus Tree City USA

Mar. 8, 2007
Categorized in: About

ForestOhio is the top tree planting state in the United States according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.   Columbus is one of the Tree City USA communities in Ohio according to The Abor Day Foundation website.

"Ohio, for the 26th year, has more Tree City USA communities - 249 - than any other state. Ohioans last year planted more than 35,000 trees and spent more than $36 million on urban forestry efforts." according to an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Get a membership package from the Arbor Day Foundation and get ten free trees.  Choices suitable for planting in Cetnral Ohio include:

10 Flowering Trees or  10 Colorado Blue Spruces or  10 Trees Mix or  10 Wild Bird Garden or  10 Oak Trees
10 White Pines or 10 Redbuds or  10 Norway Spruces or 10 Autumn Classics or  10 White Dogwoods, photos and additional info on the Arbor Day site.

I understand the trees will be shipped when it is suitable to plant them... which I believe is March.  Arbor Day is April 27, 2007.

Columbus has been a Tree City USA city for 27 years, the longest of any city in the state I believe.  Other Tree City USA communities include Bexley, Canal Wincherster, Dublin, Gahana, Grandview Heights, Hilliard, Pickerington, Powell, Upper Arlington, Westerville and  Worthington.   Congratulations to all for making it greener and prettier in Ohio.
