Viking invasion of Columbus

Apr. 30, 2008
Categorized in: Events & Places
A Viking invasion of Columbus?  In The Other Paper I read that there will be a Viking ship in Columbus (Upper Arlington area south of McCoy, north of Fishinger tried posting a map and a link here both failed to work) on Friday, on the Scioto River...

7690 Riverside Drive is where the Viking ship will be on Friday May 2, 2008 from 8:00 until 4:00 P.M. Or will it be at that address and then sailing down the Scioto to a small town 30 miles south of Columbus which shall remain nameless here?

The Other Paper mentions that Leif Ericson discovered America before Christopher Columbus did so maybe the city should be named Ericson...

Trying embedding the map one more time...

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit - February 2008

Hares sculpture at Ballantrae

It's February already!

Time to say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit for good luck.

It is an old tradition on this blog.

it is an even older superstition that you can get good luck by saying "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" the first thing each month.

This is of course the sculpture of the dancing hares at Ballantrae in Dublin.

Tomorrow is Groundhogs Day of course.  Will Buckeye Chuck the official Ohio groundhog see his shadow?  If he sees his shadow it's 6 more weeks of winter.  No shadow he can come out of his den because we are going to have an early spring.

Experience Columbus

Dec. 21, 2007

Breaking news...there are changes on the Experience Columbus website.  It has a new look... it has a slide show.  It has  a calendar.  Much easier to navigate than the old site.

The Columbus Dispatch about the new  Experience Columbus  "Visitors bureau retools Web site"

Go look... see what is happening in Central Ohio this weekend.  ExperienceColumbus.com

Bullseyes of hot spots only seem to go just north of OSU...  Easton is a hotspot but Polaris and Tuttle are not... hmmm...

You can find restaurants in the Polaris area even if it's not a hotspot... and I assume shopping and entertainment... are on Experience Columbus even if they are not hotspots with Bullseyes on the map....  I guess Columbus is just too sprawly to show a big map with bullseyes...

"One early plan that was scrapped along the way: letting people post their own photos and experiences of Columbus on the site. Although it sounded like a good idea, the results turned out to be not as professional as Experience Columbus had hoped. "

Yeah! Interesting in this era of user generated media!  It could have been like watching someone else's vacation videos....
