An entry on my friend Eileen's blog   has been noticed by Daily Pundit, a blog which says:

"Yes I'm the guy that named the blogosphere"

Eileen, a Naperville Illinois REALTOR® and blogger who mentioned on her blog that a company is offering to sell home owners in her area certified copies of their deed at an inflated price  The local  county offers homeowners certified deeds for much less.  The original entry on Move UP to Naperville Blog

Eileen's Move Up to Naperville blog is right there in my  Favorite Links! I can say I knew her before she hit the big time blogging.

Real estate is local..... I am not sure if Franklin County,  Delaware County etc. sell certified copies of deeds and I forget why you would need a certified copy of your deed.

Eileen's Move Up to Naperville blog entry caught the eye of an attorney representing the company selling ceritified deeds.  He wants to sue Eileen for slander.  See the comments on Eileen's Move Up to Naperville Blog  for the difference between libel and slander....   I can never keep those straight either.

Eileen was  mentioned on Columbus Best Blog way back in February 2006 .....

"From the Chicago suburbs:  "we're just nice mid-westerners,  Ma'am."  said Eileen Landau in Naperville IL. "  Eileen seemed so polite back then....

"Booming Metropol"

May. 24, 2006

Anyone read German? Columbus gem, German Village is on a German (?) blog, 'Chaotic- Corner.de ' by writer Keks Asfaloth ( I believe. ) The entry has two paragraphs in English.

"Little Village just off to the side of Downtown Columbus. The place is full of style and uniqueness, completely seperate from the booming metropol about a mile away..."

"Members of the German Village Society serve as Caretakers of A Legacy, dedicated to retaining the character and distinction of the past, while creating a thriving and contemporary community in German Village."

I found the blog on Technorati this morning... I hope the parts in German say nice things about Columbus.  I'm guessing "Als ich vor einigen Wochen ein wenig bei flickr" says there are photos on Flickr?

I think I have a kindred spirit in Keks Asfaloth, we both use  "..." in writing

"metropol about a mile away..."

and Kek Asfaloth's spelling separate, as "seperate "is my preferred spelling of the word.   An  Illinois REALTOR blogger broke me of the habit of spelling separate as "seperate" recently.  I kind of miss spelling, it the old way.   I think that spelling of the word is a sign of "uniqueness." I may go back to spelling it "seperate."

Finally, Kek Asfaloth's  smilies look like my smilies.... It's a small world after all!

I hope Keks Asfaloth and Chaotic-Corner.de  are benign and what is in German is all niceness about Columbus' German Village.  The name Chaotic Corner makes me think of anarchists.

... and of Dieter on SNL's  'Sprockets'... but most things German do.

German Village Society

Can it really be the 47th Annual German Village Haus und Garten Tour?
Their website says it is.....

Sunday, June 25, 2006
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
$15 Advance / $20 Day of Tour
614-221-8888
www.germanvillage.com

and the site says of the German Village just south of the "booming metropol" of Columbus:

"German Village is a 233-acre neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

Putting Columbus on the Map.

What people are saying about Columbus. Shockingly 3 out of 4* REALTORS®  don't consider Columbus to be in the midwest?  I was shocked in an online real estate "forum" that 3 out of 4* REALTORS® don't seem to consider Columbus Ohio to be in the midwest.

Does it depend on what angle you view the US  whether Columbus is in the midwest?  The context was a comparison between Chicagoland and Columbus area real estate professionals within the forum.

From the Chicago suburbs:  "we're just nice mid-westerners,  Ma'am."  said Eileen Landau in Naperville IL.

"I've always loved the "midwest" mentality.  We're generally a pretty genial breed."  replied Judi Bryan -Serving the West/Northwest Suburbs of Chicagoland for over two decades.

I considered Chicago area REALTORS® Hank Roeter's comment the voice of reason  "While I agree with all of you, I must point out that Columbus Ohio is about as Midwest as you can get."  Hank Roeters - Dupage County and Chicago's Western Suburbs.

Then in reply to Hank's wise observation about Columbus   "Perhaps politically, but not geographically.  Just a humble clarification!" wrote my favorite Chapel Hill,  North Carolina REALTOR® and contrarian Terry Crook

Does it depend on which angle you are looking at a US map to see Columbus and Ohio as  part of the "Midwest"?

Maybe.  Wikipedia says of Ohio

"Ohio is a state in the United States. Historically (but not universally) considered a part of the Midwest, Ohio is a multi-regional cultural and geographical crossroads, with elements of the Midwest, Northeast, Appalachia and the South."

Columbus OH smack dab in the middle of a "Midwest"  state IMHO

*There is no science... no survey.. Just opinions! And IMHO some are just plain wrong.
