Columbus Google Expert

Columbus Map I wrote about Columbus blogger Haochi Chen who writes "Googlified"  when he notified Google of a flaw in their GMail...  Just before the New Years...this year.

A Canadian website wrote about "Columbus teenager discovered a Google vulnerability".  Yup Haochi is 16 years old and a high school sophomore.

'Googlified' is about Google.  "Everything Google"

Googlified says:

"My name’s Haochi Chen, as you might already know. I am a web programmer, even though I am not really good at any of the program languages that I have learn,(C++, C#, PHP, MySQL, ASP, JavaScript, Java, XML, other non-programs are CSS and HTML) but it only took me less than half a year to know all these(except HTML)! Sure, that’s something, and I am getting ready for Perl, Python, JSP.

More deeply, I am a 16 year old from the political battle ground in the United States - Ohio. I am currently a sophomore in a not-so-bad high school. "

I have to keep looking up what PHP and MySQL mean and when I read what PHP and MySQL are about I don't understand it.

I thought of Haochi Chen this week when Google introduced "My Maps"  look at Google Maps.. see the New tab on the  top left?

See it there on the left side New! tab on Google Maps?

"Make Google Maps your maps.

Mark your favorite places on your map.
Draw lines and shapes to highlight paths and areas.
Add your own text, photos, and videos.
Publish your map to the web.
Share your map with friends and family."

Cool stuff.  Lots of fun things have been created with Google Maps since they were introduced... There was talk this week about Googles 'My Maps'... the end of innocence or  "positively Machiavellian"  according to Web 2.0’s Cruel Machiavellian Joke on Tony Hung's Deep Jive Interest... I always have to look up Machiavellian too.

Haochi Chen's April Fools joke made someone unhappy but they seem to have reconciled....

Who is rain city? Rainy weather, girl in slicker with an umbrella

Tom Barlow of Blogging Ohio Blog asks in his Buckeye Trivia Quiz :

The Question:  "Which city received the most annual rainfall; Seattle or Columbus?"

The Answer:  Columbus- 37 inches per year. Seattle, 34.10 inches per year.

There is a super duper great real estate blog called Seattle's Rain City Guide.  It has a buncha bloggers...Dustin who now lives in CA? His wife Anna ... Ardell, other real estate agents,  REALTORS®... Seattle is an area where real estate licensees can be a part of the MLS and not be a member of the local, state and national real estate associations..., some techie guy bloggerss, an attorney blogger or two.  Rain City Guide was one of the first real estate blogs I started reading (waaaaaaaay back in 2005.)

What is Active Rain? It is a real estate directory with blogs and forums???   Something like that.  I have a link  to Active Rain here on the my blog.  Here'an open invitation to those in the real estate industry (in Central Ohio and outside of Central Ohio....anywhere in the US and Canada I believe. )  Active Rain is not a secret, Inman wrote about it a couple of weeks ago.  Active Rain is to real estate blogging as AOL was to email in the 90's.  Anyone can do it.

Who can read Active Rain? - everyone

Columbus 2nd Best Blog There are only a couple of entries on it.... I hope...there are more entries on it.... "secret" members only blogs that I hope you don't see...

Another blogging option for real estate professionals RealTown Blogs.  Columbus Best Blog is a RealTown Blog.

I believe it is supposed to rain today in Central Ohio.

Ancient History....'Rainy Days And Mondays' was recorded by The Carpenters in 1972. I took guitar lessons as a kid. I probably played 'Rainy days and Mondays' on the guitar.... badly...

Hot Ohio Trivia

Aug. 20, 2006

summer heat

A quiz question thanks to Blogging Ohio

Question: Which state has recorded the higher recorded air temperature -- Ohio or Florida?

Answer: Ohio. Ohio's record high is 113 degrees, on July 21, 1934 near Gallipolis. Florida's high is 109 degrees, on June 29, 1931 in Monticello.

Thanks Tom! Tom Barlow of Blogging Ohio must have researched these quiz questions... this is  Galipolis Ohio trivia not Columbus Ohio trivia  but I bet it was hot in Columbus on July 21, 1934 (I don't remember.)   The end of Summer is not until September 20th?  21st? We could still have some hot weather in Ohio..

That is a suprise stat.  I always think of all Florida being hot, but I also think of all of California being air conditioned and not all of California is hot or air conditioned.

Leanne in FL about keeping cool and conserving.

Lynne in CA about keeing cool.

Buyer's sometimes shock me when they specify they need central air when they are moving to Central Ohio. Of coures they are going to buy a home with cenral AC.... Very few homes here are not air conditioned.

A more educational approach than most Saturday AM on Columbus Best Blog (I have been doing Saturday AM  cartoons...) Blogging Ohio's Tom Barlow...(any relation to Dave Barlow?) has a Buckeye Quiz on the Blogging Ohio Blog.

Questions and Answers!  Looks like Tom's done the research.
