Back to School

There is an article  in Columbus Business First about the cost of "back to school."  Back to School

"Kids may not want to participate, but parents planning for back-to-school season have a new tool to predict how much it's going to cost them."

"Huntington Bancshares Inc. has developed a "backpack index" for parents to plan upcoming school expenses. The index projects parents will spend about $307 in supplies for elementary school-aged kids, $438 for middle school children and $669 for high school students.  "

Didn't you hate it as a kid when they started talking about back to school right after the 4th of July?

The Best colors in Columbus today are Scarlett and Gray!!

From the HER Real Living website Community Info about Columbus:  "The number one most important tradition is The Ohio State University Buckeyes football team. Dress for these football games is not optional. Hometown fans must wear Scarlet and Gray, the school's colors.

Thursday,  Ohio State University announced a program to support victims of Hurricane Katrina, calling it  September to Remember.   Funds will be collected at the four OSU home games in September and donated to the Red Cross.

It's not just a good band or a great band, The Ohio State University Marching Band is the  "TBDBITL, The Best Damn Band in the Land", a tradition at Ohio State.  Look it up in Wikepedia!

According to the
OSU Marching Band's own website the band which has been around since 1878 is known by their fans as the The Best Damn Band in The Land (or TBDBITL.)

If it's the best in the land it is certainly is the best in Columbus.  Even this transplanted Wisconsin Badger has got to admit the OSU Marching Band is the Best.  That Script Ohio thing is cool beans.

Wikepedia says:

"During Script Ohio, the band is led through the curves of the word, literally spelling it out before your eyes, while playing the famous march Le Regiment de Sambre et Meuse."

According to Wikepedia, The OSU Marching Band is the largest all brass band in the world.
