Buckeye Chuck 2008 |

Will Buckeye Chuck the official groundhog of Ohio emerge wearing Mardi Gras beads this year?
Not because of any incident in the world of college football but because of how early, Easter, Lent and thus Mardi Gras is this year? While we are on the subject of football... Buckeye Chuck is going to stay up and watch the Super Bowl game Sunday... isn't he? At least for the commercials.
Groundhogs Day is Saturday February 2, 2008 and Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is on February 5, 2008. With Super Bowl Sunday in between... what a year!
If the groundhog sees his shadow on Groundhogs Day we will have six more weeks of winter. If Buckeye Chuck (In Marion Ohio, just north of Columbus) does not see his shadow we will have an early spring.
Think about the white shoes, spring dresses and flowery bonnets of Easter, Buckeye Chuck. Easter is on March 23, 2008... please tell us it's going to be an early spring this year. Wait until you think about that week... Sunday is Palm Sunday, Monday is St. Patrick's Day... Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

According to legend, if the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2, there will be six weeks of bad weather prior to the arrival of spring; and if he doesn’t, the next six weeks will be mild.
