Blogging in Columbus

Categorized in: Blogs

Another idea about getting started in blogging in Central Ohio... Hugo left a comment on my Discover Columbus Blog which I tried to answer quickly on Monday...

"I am new to reading blogs. I would like to learn a little about blogging prior to starting one.

My question , if you can help..What would your A,B,C's be for someone wanting to start the first blog . Thanks Hugo"

Hugo (and other aspiring Central Ohio bloggers...)

If you are in Central Ohio a great place to watch, join and participate in as the spirit moves you may be the Columbus Social Media Cafe. It's a Ning.com social network... Not a lot of members yet... but growing... Joining as with any Ning.com network is painless.

Columbus Social Media Cafe

Only time will tell how the platform will be used... but Hugo (and anyone in Columbus interested in blogging, it is a great time to get involved.

B - list blogger

B-List Blogger

Columbus Bloggers  Are You an A-List Bloglebrity?  It's based on Technorati score

I'm merely a C- list Bloglebrity... this B is for RealTown Blogs as a whole...Congratulations Real Town Blogs. RealTown Blogs is a community of blogs, mostly real estate related.

From Kineda,  an "Entertainment, Pop Culture and Lifestyle" blog.  I found it on Future of Real Estate Technology  (he's a B-list Blogger congrats.)

The list of B-list bloggers on Kineda include:
"Nick La (N.Design Studio), Todd Friesen (Oilman), Mack Collier (The Viral Garden), Kim Krause Berg (Cre8pc), James Joyner (Gone Hollywood), Meme (Girl Spoke), Joshua Holmes (Bumpshack), Jessica Cutler, Shane Ede (Thatedeguy), John Thomas (JohnTP), Mark Ghosh (Weblog Tools), Ed Kohler, Saakshi Juneja (To Each Its Own), Rick Bruner (Business Blog Consulting), Joseph Scott, Paul Scrivens (Wisdump)"

Not one of whom I recognize... but hey they'd never recognize me either as I am merely a C- list blogger.  I recognized some on the A list, Robert Scoble, Darren Rowse and Seth Godin, blog royalty.

"The High Authority Group [B-List Bloggers]
(100-499 blogs linking in the last 6 months)
The third group represents a decided shift in blog age while not blogging much more frequently than the last. In keeping with the theme of the maturation of the blogosphere, it seems evident that many of these bloggers were previously in category two and have grown in authority organically over time. In other words, sheer dedication pays off over time.

I could not find an A list Real Estate blog.  Other B list real estate bloggers...  Rain City Guide, Sellsius° Blog.

To get a feel for what Kineda looks like if you have not clicked on the link.....imagine Barbie's Dream House 2006.  The image adorning 'Are You an A-List Bloglebrity?' is Paris Hilton.  Self described : "Created December 29, 1997, Kineda serves as one of the web’s premier blogs* focusing on Entertainment, Lifestyle, and Pop Culture. Designed with a bold and provocative look and format, Kineda has become the insider’s guide to what’s hot, new, and undiscovered for the past eight and a half years."

The blogs  "Recent Writings" include "Jessica Alba Voted Sexiest Substitute Teacher, Jay-Z Coming Back in Full Force, Holly Valance DOA Bikini Fight Scene, Name Your Porsche, Stop Touching Me!"

The Best Columbus Blogs

Orange JuiceDo the Best Columbus Blogs have Blog Juice?

Dave's Beer?  A juice made of barley and hops?  Fine Whine?  Grape Juice?

Columbus Best Blog only has 1.2 ounces of  Blog Juice....

I found out about Blog Juice from Sellsius Blog via Real Estate Snippets

Sellsius° Blog wrote of Blog Juice:

"They squeeze it from your RSS subscribers, Alexa & Technorati rankings & links. The calculator was created by LinkBuildingBlog.  It sounded like fun, so we checked how we rated for real estate blogs. Not too bad. Fourth, behind the behemoth Curbed, Housing Panic & RealBlogging? Sweeet."

I found out about the Columbus Blogs meet up event the night before it happened last year so I already had plans.. but I found something such as: "If you are a Columbus blogger, sign-up to be listed on Columbus Blogs."  somewhere on the web...Columbus Blogs sounded like a good idea.... Don't look at the ColumbusBlogs list now whatever you do.  I think it may cause blindness.  I tried taking Columbus Best Blog off the list a couple of times... but I my emails bounce back at me....It seems to be overtaken by robots, spam links, gambling, pharmacueticals,  porn etc.

"Here are the Columbus bloggers who have submitted so far:"

and below those words there is now a Word Scramble, a partly X rated Word Scramble..... mixed in with big, massive, thick and various anatomy words are pharmacy words, Coach Handbags, watches. Lots of the same ideas as what magically appears in your mailbox to aggravate you each morning.  Buy, Cheap, Discount, Free, Online, Replica, Robots, Watch....

Mixed in are legit Columbus Blogs....like those in my list of Columbus Blogs... and more...

Dave  of  Dave's Beer has proposed a Yahoo group for Columbus Bloggers   and promised to banish spam if.. I  mean when spam  occurs.   Columbus Bloggers - Yahoo Group

How to Celebrate OneWebDay  A wiki how

OneWebDay

" The mission of OneWebDay is to create, maintain, advance, and promote a global day to celebrate online life: September 22, 2006"

I don't find anything about any Columbus or Central Ohio events to celebrate OneWebDay locally....  I found a great blog in Europe about where were you when the WWW was born.  For most of us it is not like 'where were you when JFK was shot?',  'where were you when they walked on the moon?', 'where were you on 9-11-2001.'  Many of us have a hard time distinguishing between the internet and the www.

One of my favorite blogs Sellsius° Blog (do you think maybe they're my favorite because Sellsius ° Blog said I wasrunning a marathon one of 'The Top Ten Women Real Estate Bloggers'?) did a blog marathon this morning...  I don't know if Sellsius°Blog's  Blogging Marathon was to celebrate OneWebDay but any blog posting fifty blog entries on the same day as the first OneWebDay is promoting using the web.  A blogging marathon is certainly a celebration of life online....

Sellsius°  fify blog entries posted September 22, 2006 cover a lot of ground.  Real estate and otherwise.

Also an adults only blog entry, Friday fun, Yahoo search ...  a list of cities with the most oreclosures in the US and Columbus is not on the list!    Yes!

How to say Thank You! #19  ....Thank you Sellsius Blog for all the fun stuff to read.

Happy OneWebDay Columbus and Central Ohio!
