Those girls can sing!

The California cows commercials are entertaining. I think those commercials may present a rosier picture of life for cows in California than reality. There's a website called "UnhappyCows.com" that I ran into trying to find a funny cow YouTube video. While the California cows don't live in Hollywood CA, the commercials are all Hollywood. The UN happy California Cow video was sad enough, I'm not visiting the website. My sympathies to reality. I want to believe the world is like the movie 'Babe' when it comes to animals. That's probably why I love the California cow commercials even if it is heresy (I am from Wisconsin.. Midwest cows are the best.)

If California cows relocated to Ohio from expensive California markets they could probably buy up a lot of land somewhere in many of the Central Ohio counties including Delaware, Licking, Madison, Fairfield. Yes it is not as sunny here as California but land prices are much more reasonable, that should make for bovine bliss.

There are cows right in Columbus but they are part of the Ohio State University, in fact I sold a house near one of the OSU herds to a couple from California... people not cows. He was originally from Ohio, not Columbus but she is from L.A originally.

Hi Maureen,  The commercial brings back a lot of great memories- when I was 13 years old, my family went to Chekoslovakia to visit my Aunt & Uncle, and cousins (family), for a month before my Dad passed away- he had terminal cancer..  (Which of course now, with all the advances in medicine, he would have lived a lot longer (sad)..  Anyway, in the small town my Aunt & Uncle lived, "morning rush hour" were all of the cows walking down the street (dirt road, of course) heading out to the hills to go graze for the day.  Then, around 5:00, the cows would all come back down the road and go to their homes / barns..  Quite an interesting sight to see!  My cousins and my sister and I went out a couple of times to "watch the cows" in the hills grazing..  What a great and beautiful / memorable time in my life!  A memory that I'll cherish forever, and I always enjoy watching movies like "Babe" and "Charlotte's Web" (never read the book when I was a child- don't know why- I just watched the movie a few weeks ago, and loved it) anyway, the commercial brings back those great memories of the time I spent with my family in Chekoslovakia, and the "unhappycows" site is the reason I don't eat veal..  Best regards,  Mike

Thanks Mike.  That is sad about your father, yes times have changed.  Medicine can do a lot now.  Nice that you have good memories of the visit to Czekoslovakia and that time with your family!

I think my grandfather's border collie would bring the cows home on her own.  I am not sure I was that impressed with that as a kid but now when I think about the work that dog did!

I think my 4th grade teacher read us Charlotte's Web.
