Nov. 1, 2007 - A Central Ohio Accent

Voices in Columbus have various accents. Many of us are originally from someplace else. I always think I sound just like everyone else in Central Ohio until I realize there are lots of different accents in Central Ohio.

Ohio has lots of people who have a much more Southern speach pattern to my ears than what I am used to from growing up in the Upper Great Lakes. I grew up in Wisconsin.

The Midwestern cow in this video is certainly from Minnesota or North or South Dakota... not from Ohio or even Wisconsin... well maybe Western Wisconsin.

Here in Charlotte, NC, it's becoming much more diverse in the accents you hear, too - mostly due to so many people from the Northeast moving "down South" for a better quality of life.

I know lots of people in Atlanta don't have accents because they aren't from Atlanta.
